The Jelly Angler Reality Augment will be modified and return to Fortnite in a future update to the game. Reality Augments were first introduced to Fortnite with the release of Chapter 4 Season 1. Although it is not uncommon for certain mechanics to be exclusive to a season, many players were relieved when they found out that Augments would remain in Fortnite even once Season 2 began.Reality Augments were a hit among most Fortnite fans; they allowed players to come up with different strategies according to the Augments that they rolled during a match. For example, the pistol had always been a mostly discarded weapon that players would only take with them in the early game if they had no other options, but activating certain Reality Augments allowed gamers to make overpowered pistols in Fortnite, a completely new concept that shook the metagame. With update v24.40, Epic Games removed the Jelly Angler Reality Augment. This wasn't much of a let down to gamers as many of them weren't big fans of this Augment in the first place. According to a tweet from the official Fortnite Status account, Jelly Angler is only being vaulted temporarily, and Epic Games intends to bring it back in the future with new functionality.
For those that aren't familiar with this Reality Augment, when a player would activate the Jelly Angler in-game, they would receive a Fishing Rod that could be used to fish anywhere, but they would only ever catch Jellyfish. While they would still be able to catch fish on still water as well, they wouldn't have to go out of their way to find a fishing hole. The only fish that would come up on the other end of the line would be Jellyfish, which works just like Chug Splash as it heals 20 HP to all players nearby. The ability isn't an awful monkey's paw by any means, but it takes some effort and there are definitely Chapter 4 Season 2 Reality Augments that are better and work passively.
It's still unknown how Epic Games intends to modify the Jelly Angler Reality Augment to make it viable to the point of players actually selecting it over powerful Fortnite Augments such as Munitions Slide. Regardless, for now, most gamers are just happy that they won't have to waste a reroll in an attempt to receive a better Reality Augment.
Fortnite is available for Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
