It all started with the release of the Daryl Dixon and Michonne skins, which were first sold in December 2020, a few days after their announcement during The Game Awards. The following year, Rick Grimes was also added to Fortnite in October.
The Walking Dead skins available in Fortnite are replicas of the characters on the show played by Norman Reedus, Danai Gurira, and Andrew Lincoln. While Daryl Dixon does not appear in The Walking Dead comics, Michonne and Rick do. However, the deal was made with AMC, and only TV show characters became part of Fortnite. Things are now different with the release of Negan's skin in the Item Shop - this time around, the comic book version of the character.

Details about a rumored Fortnite/One Piece crossover are leaked online, revealing what characters fans could see from this unconfirmed collaboration.
Upon being asked by fans what he thought about this recent addition, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who played Negan in The Walking Dead TV show, admits that he would be stoked to see AMC's Negan in Fortnite alongside Kirkman's. Despite his redemption arc later on, Negan was one of the most brutal villains in The Walking Dead universe, and Morgan did an outstanding job interpreting this character and turned him into a fan-favorite, which is why the community was curious to know what he thought about the addition of Negan to Fortnite. Morgan also notes, this would make it possible for him to hang out with Andrew Lincoln once again, even if it was as virtual representations of characters they played.
When Do Negan Cosmetics Leave the Fortnite Item Shop?

It is possible that there could be some conflict and competition in selling Jeffrey Dean Morgan's character when the comic book version of Negan is already available in Fortnite. The truth is that the deals that went into creating this project with Kirkman and AMC are unknown, but there is hope that another variant of this character could be coming in the future. Negan items are part of the Survivor in Arms set, which is the same cosmetic set as the other Walking Dead characters. Additionally, there have also been multiple skins representing the same person or characters before, such as the standard and Slayer Juice WRLD skin.
Even though the rest of the characters aren't up for sale at the moment, players can pick up Negan in the Fortnite Item Shop until April 11. The Negan bundle features the Negan skin, Lucille, his iconic bat, as a pickaxe, the Walker's Headcase back bling, and the KRAKK! Wrap.
