What Are All the Ranks in Foxhole?

Ranks in Foxhole are almost entirely cosmetic, with two small caveats to the early ranks. They are also a source of pride to veterans of the game who have fought in many wars, and it helps distinguish experience levels when giving or receiving advice. However, with the Airborne update for Foxhole that launched on 9th February 2026, there was also a change to ranks, with each faction now having its own unique rank names.

How Do Ranks Work & How To Rank Up In Foxhole?

Ranks are names in Foxhole and appear in square brackets after a player's name. If they have brackets before their name, this is their regiment, similar to a clan. To see your own rank, press F1. Hovering over this rank will display a list of all the ranks for your faction.

To rank up, players will need to earn commends from other players. Earning commends will then allow you to commend other players by pressing Alt + LMB while hovering over them or via the player list displayed after pressing F1, then select Commend. Additionally, when a player delivers supplies to a nearby base, all local players will get a pop-up in the top left with the option to commend the driver.

The only rewards for reaching new ranks are as follows:

leg/tpr (3rd): Players can create map posts.
Sig/cpl (5th): Players can create their own regiments.

After these ranks, there is no gameplay benefit to ranking up, but there may be social benefits within the MMO game.

There is a level gained from performing actions, but its only purpose is to allow players under Level 5 to switch factions after being faction locked. This is a one-time use.

The Best Ways To Get Commends In Foxhole

Unfortunately, not all efforts are rewarded equally in Foxhole, and to get commendations, you'll need to visibly help your side in front of lots of eyes.

Deliver logistics to frontline bases with a truck.
Heal allies as a medic.
Help players build and dig.
Repair tanks and other vehicles on the frontline.
Mine resources in scrap fields alongside other players.
Rally troops and lead them on a charge.
Be a bus driver and take soldiers to the front.
Trade commends with someone else who is working hard with you.

All Colonial Ranks In Foxhole

The new Colonial ranks in Foxhole are inspired by Ancient Greek and Roman military terms, as this faction has a lore that draws inspiration from those cultures. The highest rank, Sword of Maro, is related to a famous Colonial company led by Silas Maro.

All Warden Ranks In Foxhole

The new Warden ranks have more in common with modern military ranks than the Colonial ones, and there are also some overlaps with the old ranks. However, confusingly, these overlaps often are only in name, with differing numerical ranks. For example, the new Warden Captain rank is the 13th rank, but in the old system, Captain was the 11th rank.

Back then, there were only 19 ranks, with Field Marshall being the highest and only achieved by a handful of players. There are now two higher ranks for those players to keep working toward.
