Steam is letting players claim Field of Glory 2 completely free of charge - but only for the next few days. Valve’s digital PC video game distribution service has been known to offer certain titles for a discount or even completely free for a limited time, something that has helped Steam become one of the world’s biggest gaming platforms. While not every title offered up as a free Steam giveaway has been a breakout success, many of them have been well-received by users.
Some of Steam’s most recent free offerings have included the positively-reviewed Warhammer 40,000: Gladius - Relics of War, a turn-based strategy title based on the long-running and extremely popular Warhammer 40,000 tabletop roleplaying franchise. Just last week, Steam announced yet another free offer in TGV Voyages Train Simulator, which wasn’t as warmly received as the previous examples and was only available for a few days.
Now Steam has already revealed its latest free game giveaway, but users will have to hurry if they want to claim it. 2017’s Field of Glory 2 is being offered at 100% off from now until June 8. This means that anyone interested in playing it before then will have roughly three days to act. Field of Glory 2 is the second installment in British publisher Slitherine Software’s series of historical turn-based strategy titles - which are in turn based on a tabletop board game.
The base Field of Glory 2 received mostly positive reviews from Steam users and high ratings on aggregate websites like Metacritic due to its gripping turn-based battles. Several DLC packs would be released for the game over the years centered around certain historical campaigns, and a full-fledged sequel titled Field of Glory 2: Medieval was launched in 2021.
Now Steam users can claim Fields of Glory 2 for free between now and June 8, and its many DLC campaigns are being sold at a discount for those who still want more after playing through the main game. However, like most of Steam’s free gaming giveaways, this offer isn’t going to last for very long.
