On that day, PS Plus subscribers will be able to snag the critically-acclaimed 3D platformer Psychonauts 2 along with the beloved indie farm/life sim Stardew Valley and the clever puzzle game Viewfinder. It's certainly one of the stronger lineups for the PlayStation Plus Essential tier this year so far, especially when one considers that Stardew Valley is often hailed as one of the best video games ever made.

The free PS Plus games for September 2025 are an interesting lineup. Psychonauts 2 was developed by Double Fine and published by Xbox Game Studios, so it being featured as a free PS Plus game is somewhat surprising. Stardew Valley, meanwhile, is one of the best-selling indie games of all time, and so it showing up on PS Plus is also a bit unexpected. Then again, Stardew Valley has been on Xbox Game Pass for quite a while. In any case, this should go a long way in introducing even more gamers to Stardew Valley.
