Sony has officially revealed the free PlayStation Plus games for January 2025. 2024 was an exciting year for PlayStation Plus, with a wide range of free games released to subscribers. The free PS Plus games for 2024 included a range of older games, newer titles like WWE 2K24, and even some brand-new, day one releases on occasion.

The current free PlayStation Plus games are It Takes Two, Aliens: Dark Descent, and Temtem. It Takes Two is an award-winning co-op game that won Game of the Year in 2021, Aliens: Dark Descent is a strategy game based on the popular Aliens franchise, and Temtem is a Pokemon-like MMORPG. All three games are free for PS Plus subscribers to claim until Monday, January 6. What to Expect From PS Plus in 2025

PS Plus has followed a very clear trend since the introduction of its tier system, and chances are, 2025 is a continuation of that trend.

The free PlayStation Plus games for January 2025 are Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered, and The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe. All three games are free for PS Plus users to claim from Tuesday, January 7 until Monday, February 3, at which point they will be replaced by the February 2025 free games, whatever those may be.

PS Plus Free Games for January 2025 List

  • Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered
  • Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
  • The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League isn't even a year old, so that would normally add serious value to the PS Plus lineup, but the game was panned by critics and was on sale for as low as $5 just recently. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League's live service ambitions have already come to an end as well, so it's not like it being free on PS Plus is going to give it the shot in the arm needed to keep support going. Still, being able to play through the game for free might make some fans a little more forgiving when it comes to Kill the Justice League's flaws.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered is an enhanced version of the well-reviewed racing game, and should provide dozens of hours of fun for racing game fans. The problem is that racing games don't appeal to everyone, and typically PS Plus subscribers don't like it when a sports/racing title is one of the freebies. The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe, meanwhile, is a mind-bending, narrative-driven first-person game that is honestly genius in many ways, but it being a revamped version of a game that's over a decade old might also not sit well with subscribers.

All things considered, it's easy to see how the free PS Plus games for January 2025 might spark some backlash. PlayStation Plus subscribers are known for making their grievances heard, and this line-up might very well be one that triggers such a response. Then again, PS Plus subscribers may embrace the January 2025 lineup, especially if they haven't played any of the free games.
