2022 is set to be one of the biggest months for PlayStation Plus in history with the introduction of the new Essential, Extra, and Premium tiers. In June, Sony is planning to shake up the service by adding hundreds of recent and classic titles through these new tiers, in turn making it a new competitor to Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass subscription service. Many players will likely stick with PlayStation Plus Essential, however, and after revealing this month's lineup earlier this week, the file sizes for each game coming to the basic tier have also been revealed.Earlier this week, Sony revealed that God of War, Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker, and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl will be the free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers in June. These titles are arriving just as the service introduces two new higher tiers that add a host of PS4 and PS5 games through the PS Plus Extra tier, and even classic titles from the PS1, PS2, PSP, and PS3 eras through the PS Plus Premium tier. The PS4 and PS5 libraries will include hits such as Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Death Stranding: Director's Cut, Ghost of Tsushima, and Returnal, while the classics library will include the likes of Ape Escape, Jak and Daxter, and the original Demon's Souls. With the reveal of the new games coming to the Essential tier earlier this week, fans are likely preparing to make room for the titles on their PS4 and PS5 consoles ahead of their arrival next week, especially those looking to play 2018's God of War ahead of the release of God of War: Ragnarok on PS4 and PS5 later this year. For those looking to download the 2018 soft reboot, it will take up approximately 46GB of space on the PS4 hard drive or PS5 SSD.
For anime fans looking to jump into Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker, this title will take up 23.18GB of space, while cartoon platform fighter Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl has two separate file sizes for the PS4 and PS5 versions. The PS4 download will weigh in at 8.85GB, while the PS5 version comes in at 4.8GB, seemingly taking advantage of the PS5's better file compression methods.
With the marketing cycle of God of War: Ragnarok hinting at a September release, it seems that now is the perfect time for fans to jump into the most recent entry, keeping in mind that it does come with a slew of performance enhancements when running on the PS5. Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl continue to also receive healthy DLC content, making them welcome additions to the line-up as well when they join the service on June 7.
