PlayStation Plus is off to a decent start in 2022. January’s PS Plus line-up was largely well-received, with many fans excited for Deep Rock Galactic and Persona 5 Strikers. However, February’s PS Plus collection was criticized, mainly for offering Borderlands 2’s DLC Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep as it is almost a decade old at this point.
Sony revealed the PlayStation Plus lineup for March 2022 a couple of days ago, and it looks like fans are pleased with the selection. Subscribers can play ARK: Survival Evolved, Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, Ghostrunner, and Team Sonic Racing from March 1. Additionally, Grand Theft Auto Online will be available from March 15, resulting in one of the best lineups in recent memory.
PlayStationSize on Twitter has now revealed the total amount of space required for next month’s PlayStation Plus lineup. Ghostrunner and Team Sonic Racing will require a modest 11.129 GB and approximately 15 GB respectively. The PS5 version of Ghost of Tsushima: Legends needs 62.783 GB, with the PS4 version taking up 40.731 GB of space. ARK is the biggest game on this list as it requires 99.547 GB of space. Fans should note that PS4 games take a bit of extra space on PS5 which is listed under the “other” category.
The PS5 SSD can only fit 667 GB of games, so some fans may want to install a second SSD or opt for an external drive. Seagate had recently announced a new partnership with PlayStation and users can even purchase a Horizon Forbidden West Limited Edition Game Drive, with options for 2 TB and 5 TB storage space.
The PS5 has some impressive compression techniques and as a result, sizes for many games are lower than their PS4 counterpart. But fans still have to download an astonishing amount of data for some games. Using Sony’s first-party games as examples, Horizon Forbidden West takes around 97 GB of space and the upcoming Gran Turismo 7 will reportedly need around 110 GB.
Upgrading the total storage will come in handy in the future, especially when Sony launches Project Spartacus. Project Spartacus rumored to be an Xbox Game Pass competitor, and Sony will reportedly offer 3 tiers as a part of this service. One will be the same as the current model of PlayStation Plus, with the second tier giving access to a big catalog of games. The most expensive option will reportedly allow players to stream games and offer other bonuses.
