The Panopticon has the players, or Sinners, risking their lives in intense Operations to rescue civilians captured by the Abductors. Amid these battles, Freedom Wars Remastered presents players with critical decisions that can impact the outcome of missions and the overall story. One such decision involves Ann and Hal, sibling Sinners who appear frequently in the main storyline and serve as Comrades during Basic Operations.
Freedom Wars Remastered: How To Use Your Accessory
Your Accessory is your companion who will accompany you on Operations in Freedom Wars Remastered; here's how to customize and command them.
Choosing between the two can be a difficult decision, given their importance to the narrative and gameplay. This guide delves into who you should save between the two siblings in Freedom Wars Remastered.
Spoiler Warning: There will be a brief late-game spoiler discussed at the very end of the guide.
Should You Save Hal Or Ann In Freedom Wars Remastered?
Soon after reaching CODE Level 2 Clearance, you will encounter a brother and sister, Hal and Ann, who are both Sinners. These two appear multiple times in the main story and can also be used as Comrades during Basic Operations. Upon advancing to your Level 5 Cell, you will be notified that Natalia wants to speak with you. She will assign you and a few other Sinners an Operation to assist a designated Platoon by taking down enemy forces. During this event, Carlos will mention that Hal is with the 15th Platoon, while Ann is with the 16th Platoon.
This marks the first time in the game where you will need to make a critical choice. Whichever Platoon you decide not to assist will be ambushed, resulting in the sibling's death alongside their respective Platoon. The rewards for the 1, 2, and 5-star tiers of both missions differ, meaning you will miss out on those for the mission you don’t choose. However, the real consequence lies in losing either Hal or Ann for the remainder of the game. While this decision does not change the story's overall outcome, you will see a unique scene involving the surviving sibling mourning the loss of the other.
The choice ultimately becomes a moral one, but from an optimal perspective, saving Ann is the better decision.
- Story-wise, Hal is a caring brother, and choosing him over his sister would make him blame himself for her death. On the other hand, Ann grieves her brother’s loss but does not take it as harshly.
- From a gameplay standpoint, Hal is a normal damage dealer who uses the Binding Thorn, but there are several other damage dealers available. Ann, however, is a great healer who wields a heavy machine gun. Since healers are scarce, Ann proves to be the more valuable choice for survival and strategy.
Spoiler Warning: Late-game spoilers for Freedom Wars Remastered ahead
During Post-Game, the other sibling can be revived, so players will be able to use them as Comrades once again.
