If ratings are to be believed, then Frieren: Beyond Journey's End is the greatest anime of all time, as it occupies the number one spot on MyAnimeList. Thankfully, ratings aren't everything, as tastes vary from person to person. But at the same time, the ratings aren't completely invalid either. They lend credibility to the anime being good and worth exploring.
Frieren Receives Major Update Ahead Of Season 2
Frieren has shared another trailer ahead of the premiere of its second season.
When the first season of Frieren ended, people who watched the anime were enchanted by its quality. They wanted to experience where Frieren goes next and what kind of lesson she would learn. Thankfully, it didn't take too long for Madhouse to confirm that Frieren Season 2 was in production and would be released in the coming years.
Frieren Season 2 Release Date
Not so long ago, it was revealed that Frieren's second season would premiere in January 2026. Since then, the official social media accounts associated with the anime have shared a ton of promotional material to get fans in the mood for the next season. The accounts have shared trailers, teasers, and visuals with fans of the elven mage. With 2025 set to end, fans just have to wait for a few more weeks, as Frieren will return on January 16th, 2026.
Fans don't have to worry about the animation quality because Madhouse is handling the production of the series. The studio is renowned for its attention to detail and for turning a good story into an excellent one. Initially, some fans were worried whether Madhouse would be in charge of the anime at all, but thankfully, all the speculation was almost immediately put to rest. However, a new detail has emerged that has once again made fans anxious and caused a handful to lose interest in Frieren Season 2.

According to a new report, Frieren Season 2 will only have 10 episodes in total. Fans have been outraged and slightly disappointed because of the reduction in the episode count for the new season. The first season has 28 episodes, meaning the second season has 18 fewer episodes. It doesn't paint a good picture of Madhouse that the studio only finished 10 episodes after the conclusion of the first season.
Frieren Anime Has Insanely Good Pacing
However, fans are missing one important detail, and that is the pacing. Frieren's pacing is one of the main things that it is praised for. The first season of the anime adapted 60 chapters into 28 episodes. After some calculations, it's clear that each episode covered more than 2 chapters. Due to the pacing, none of the episodes felt dragged out or slow. Since the formula was a success, it would be unwise for Madhouse to change it. So, fans can expect the same pacing for Frieren Season 2. If that's the case, then it will cover around 20 chapters, bringing the overall total to 80. Normally, this wouldn't be a problem, but fans need to remember that the Frieren manga has been on an indefinite hiatus.
Frieren Season 2 Is Coming To Crunchyroll Soon, And More Seasons Are Now Confirmed
Frieren Season 2 is already confirmed, and the fate of the seasons after has also been revealed.
Both the writer and the illustrator have been dealing with health issues, which is why they had to put the manga on hold. What's worse is that this isn't the first time the Frieren manga has been put on a long hiatus. The manga was shelved in December 2024, after which it returned in August 2025. Things went on normally until October, when another hiatus was announced. Since then, there have been no updates regarding the manga's return.

So, if the anime were too long, it would get too close to the manga, which is far from ideal. Hence, Madhouse may have decided to stick to a shorter season. Another thing worth keeping in mind is that a high-quality adaptation takes time to be completed. It's unknown when the studio began working on Frieren Season 2, but usually, it takes anywhere from 1 to 2 years to complete the production. So, it is possible the studio was short on time.
Frieren Season 2 Will Be A Major Hit
While there may be a bit of controversy surrounding Frieren Season 2, there is no denying that it will be hugely popular with the audience. There will be action, drama, and everything else, so fans should not miss it at all costs. It won't be an exaggeration to say that Frieren Season 2 will also be in contention to win the Anime of the Year award. After narrowly missing out on the award to Solo Leveling, fans will be hoping that Frieren finally wins next year.
