Frieren Season 2 will be released on January 16, 2026. Currently, there is no news regarding the episode count. However, there is a good chance that the second season will have a similar number of episodes, although they might be divided into two cours. More and more anime series are adapting the format because it gives them the opportunity to fix any issues.

However, there's only a minute chance of Frieren Season 2 having any production issues because it is being produced by the magnificent Madhouse. The studio has a near-immaculate record, and everything it has produced has been well received by viewers.

Frieren Season 2 Could Win Anime Of The Year Award

The first season of Frieren was nominated for Anime of the Year, but it lost to Solo Leveling. Many fans were upset by the decision because Frieren was much better overall. It had a better story and a much better cast of characters. It even supplanted Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood on MyAnimeList.

Frieren Season 2 will have the opportunity to come for the title once again, but it will have to compete with many popular anime like Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3, Oshi no Ko Season 3, Hell's Paradise Season 2, and Steel Ball Run.

Out of the aforementioned titles, Jujutsu Kaisen and Steel Ball Run in particular will pose a real threat to Frieren's chances of winning the Anime of the Year award. The Jujutsu Kaisen anime is returning after three years of absence, so there is a great deal of hype around it.

On the other hand, Steel Ball Run is based on a manga that was finished in the 2000s. Naturally, fans have been waiting for a long time for the anime adaptation, and now that the anime is confirmed, they're excited to watch it.
