Frostpunk 2 is pretty much a direct upgrade from the base game and has a lot of changes that make it distinct from the original. Sincerity and love were put into this project, and it shows. The game features a busy, but clean, HUD, upgraded graphics, lots of resources, new pathing, and a lot more.

One of the things that has been bugging players is the specifics of the construction in the game, or rather, the ability to cancel construction. It's normal to make mistakes during construction, and the game does give the players some leeway when it comes to correcting them.

Frostpunk 2: Best Ideas to Research First

If you wish for a strong start in Frostpunk 2's campaign, prioritize researching the following ideas as soon as possible.

Can you Cancel Construction in Frostpunk 2?

Can you Cancel Construction in Frostpunk 2

Surprisingly, there isn't a way to cancel the construction of districts and buildings that you've started. After you lock-in your choice, the reigns are out of your hand, and you won't be able to cancel the construction of said building or district, even if you're willing to pay a price for it.

If you're constructing a district, you will have the leeway of redoing your planning phase. When you start constructing a district, you're prompted to select the tiles you wish to allocate to the district. If you select the wrong tiles, you can deselect them by simply pressing the right click. Additionally, trails and skyways can be stopped midway if you change your mind.

It's certainly a weird design choice from a convenience perspective, but the developers aren't showing any signs of changing it any time soon. There is an alternate method of recovery available for players who make a mistake, i.e., demolishing or deconstructing buildings after the construction is finished.

How to Demolish Buildings in Frostpunk 2

How to Demolish Buildings in Frostpunk 2

The demolition process is fairly simple, but requires some sacrifice on the player's part, both in terms of time and resources. The good news is that players will get resources back for demolishing buildings and districts rather than needing to spend any. The bad news is that they'll need exactly three weeks to do so and will only return 75% of the cost of the initial construction.

Don't worry about losing your cores when demolishing buildings that contain them, since all cores get returned after the demolition is complete.

Keep in mind that there isn't any way to stop demolition after the process starts. This means that if you accidentally demolish something, you'll need to spend 3 extra weeks and 25% more resources to reconstruct it. Buildings inside districts can be individually demolished, but they will automatically be demolished and give back the player the appropriate amount of resources when their host district gets demolished.
