As with most city-building survival games, careful resource management is crucial for survival in Frostpunk 2. Prefabs are one such essential resource. Think of them as pre-built building modules or blueprints that you use to construct new districts, buildings, and hubs.
While you begin the game with a supply of Prefabs, you'll quickly need to get more to expand your city. This guide can walk you through all the ways to get Prefabs in Frostpunk 2 and keep your construction running.
Frostpunk 2: How To Deradicalize Factions
Unhappy factions in Frostpunk 2 can quickly gain Fervor and Radicalize, causing problems for the player. Learn how to promptly deradicalize them here.
How To Get Prefabs in Frostpunk 2
You can get Prefabs in Frostpunk 2 in a few different ways, such as:
Extract Prefab Deposits
The best option to get Prefabs early on is to build an Extraction District near Abandoned Ruins. These ruins are scattered across all maps and contain a decent number of Prefabs. Once you build an Extraction District, your workers will then extract Prefabs from the deposit until it's depleted.
Since the deposits are limited, they can be quickly exhausted, and you’ll need to transition to more sustainable Prefab sources.
Build Industrial Districts
If you want to get a steady supply of Prefabs, consider building Industrial Districts in your city. Once constructed, click on the district and select Prefab from the Production options on the left side.
While they don't need specific locations or deposits like Extraction Districts, Industrial Districts can cause Squalor near Housing Districts. Squalor is a negative condition that can affect your city. To minimize this, build Industrial Districts on the city's outskirts.
Boost Prefab Production With Laws and Ideas
Even though you shouldn’t completely rely on them, certain Laws and Ideas can supplement your Prefab production. Here are some Laws and Ideas you can consider if you’re running low on Prefabs:
- Factories (Resources Idea Tree)
- Prefab Factories (Resources Idea Tree)
- City Development Effort (City Community Service Law)
Explore The Frostland
If you can’t build Extraction or Industrial Districts and are facing a shortage of Prefabs, you can dispatch a Frostland Team to an abandoned region with a potential Prefab deposit. The team can then gather Prefabs and bring them back to your city.
How To Use Prefabs in Frostpunk 2
In Frostpunk 2, you need Prefabs for almost all construction projects. Every structure, from Districts and Hubs to individual Buildings, requires a specific number of Prefabs for construction within and around your settlement.
