Frostpunk 2: How to Restart a Chapter

Frostpunk 2 players who are interested in restarting a chapter should begin by visiting the "Load Game" menu. For full clarity, that menu can be accessed from the main menu, or by pressing Esc during gameplay, and fans will find a list of all their manual and auto saves within it.

Players must now locate a "CHAPTERSAVE" for the chapter that they would like to restart. Indeed, the game auto saves at the beginning of every chapter, and fans must simply click on the CHAPTERSAVE for the chapter that they want to restart and then and click on "Load Game" in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

To concretize this idea with some examples, a player who wanted to restart Frostpunk 2's first chapter would load "CHAPTERSAVE_1," while a player who wanted to restart the second chapter would load "CHAPTERSAVE_2."

To note, while players can use these beginning-of-chapter auto saves to quickly restart a chapter, it is still recommended that they get in the habit of regularly performing manual saves and quicksaves. Indeed, a well-timed save can prevent a great deal of frustration if an error is made, and players who save frequently are unlikely to ever have the need to fully restart a chapter.

As previously noted, none of this is applicable if a player selected Survivor Mode when starting Frostpunk 2's story. This is due to the fact that saves are only made during a Survivor Mode playthrough upon exiting the game. As such, fans should make sure that they are very familiar with the game's mechanics before trying a Survivor Mode campaign.
