Almost 20 years after the original game's launch, developer WayForward announced that Sigma Star Saga will return to modern consoles, PCs, and Game Boy Advance via compatible reproduction carts in 2025. The game will be powered by Limited Run Games' Carbon Engine, though it was not revealed if it will also distribute the Game Boy Advance cartridges.
Initially released in 2005, Sigma Star Saga stars Ian Recker, a decorated pilot who goes undercover to investigate an enemy race known as the Krill. The Krill had launched an attack on Earth by creating a hole in the Atlantic Ocean which caused catastrophic boiling of the oceans and endangering all life on the planet. As a result, Recker must work with humans and the Krill to explore planets, fight against epic bosses, and engage players in a fantastic story with multiple endings. The game is among many other GBA games making a comeback on modern consoles using Limited Run Games' Carbon Engine.

Sigma Star Saga Returns to Game Boy Advance

Limited Run Games is behind the physical releases of many classic games on modern consoles and PCs. It even recently revealed on social media that it is working on Bubsy: The Purrfect Collection for release in 2025. In some cases, it will include physical reproductions of the classic games that it releases alongside elaborate collector's and special editions.
Sigma Star Saga joins other retro remakes, including Tomba 2, in receiving revivals with help from Limited Run Games and its Carbon Engine. Only time will tell what WayForward will offer to longtime fans of the series who likely had not expected a revival of the Game Boy Advance game.
