- Completing games to 100% is an ultimate challenge, but it's a thrilling and rewarding one for dedicated players.

Since they were invented, video games have been the go-to for children and adults to have fun and unwind after a stressful day. There's just something enticing about being the main character in a story full of plot twists, action, and challenges. However, sometimes players like to take things a step further and focus on more than just finishing their favorite games. Occasionally, a game is so good that anything less than a 100% completion trophy is unacceptable.
Fallout 76: 7 Hardest Achievements/Trophies To Unlock
Players are going to have to put in a lot of time if they want to snag the following Fallout 76 achievements.
Hardcore completionists will know that finishing a game to the fullest extent of the word is not always a walk in the park, as the requirements can often be absurd and nearly impossible to meet. Luckily, many games out there are a blast to complete, even if doing so takes a while and a few dozen attempts. For anyone looking for an entertaining challenge, here are some games that are a lot of fun to 100% complete.
6 Dark Souls 3
A Challenging Endeavor That Requires Patience
Dark Souls 3
- Released
- March 24, 2016
- Developer(s)
- From Software
- Genre(s)
- Action RPG
Notable Achievements:
- The Nameless King (Defeat the Nameless King)
- Master of Miracles (Collect all available Miracles)
- Master of Rings (Collect all available rings)
FromSoftware's games are many things, but easy isn't one of them. Regardless of which installment of the franchise players choose, there will always be tons of challenging bosses, areas, and enemies to overcome in order to progress through the story and eventually reach the end of the game. Whether looking for 100% completion in a game such as Dark Souls 3 is admirable or a textbook example of masochism is up for debate, but one thing's for sure — players who seek this ultimate achievement are bound to have a blast.
Granted, a ton of frustration is also part of the process, but few things are as satisfying as finally getting the "Master of Rings" Achievement after collecting all 107 rings in the game. This will require a lot of exploration, patience, and several playthroughs, as the augmented versions of rings aren't unlocked until NG+.
5 The Witcher 3
Nearly 200 Hours Of Fun
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
- Released
- May 19, 2015
- Developer(s)
- CD Projekt Red
- Platform(s)
- Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S
Notable Achievements:
- Card Collector (Acquire all Gwent cards in the base version of the game)
- When It's Many Against One (Get all Iris von Everec's Nightmares to attack Geralt at the same time and win)
- The Limits of the Possible (Collect all trophies/Achievements)
It's undeniable that The Witcher 3 not only redefined what new-gen console gaming meant back in 2015, but it also captured hundreds of thousands of players worldwide and made CD Projekt RED the monster developer it is today. Completing the game without looking to get 100% already takes several dozen hours, especially when including both the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine DLCs.
The Witcher 3: The 28 Best Silver Swords, Ranked
While steel swords will carve through human enemies in The Witcher 3, silver swords will cut down any fearsome creature of legend.
And for those players looking for the ultimate challenge, the fun will last much longer, as it's estimated that completing every aspect of the game takes between 170–190 hours depending on play style and players' skills. With "simple" Achievements, like "Card Collector," and more challenging ones, such as "Walked the Path," and "When it's Many Against One," completing 100% of The Witcher 3 is lots of fun, and it never feels repetitive or frustrating.
4 Grand Theft Auto 5
Perfecting Heists Are A Must
Grand Theft Auto 5
- Released
- September 17, 2013
- Developer(s)
- Rockstar North
- Platform(s)
- Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5
- Genre(s)
- Open-World, Action
Notable Achievements:
- Live A Little (Spend a whopping $8 million purchasing vehicles)
- Above The Law (Reach rank 100)
- Career Criminal (100% game completion)
As of today, many gamers still love and play Grand Theft Auto 5 daily. However, the game has become a little controversial over the years, as several people are unhappy with the endless re-releases of the game that can often feel like a shameless cash grab by Rockstar. In any case, completing Grand Theft Auto 5 to the fullest extent is a lot of fun, as it expands on the already numerous possibilities at players' disposal in the open-world multi-million dollar hit title.
Getting all Achievements in the base game was challenging enough, but when Grand Theft Auto Online was released, the bar was raised, introducing some of the hardest ones at the time. A great example is the "Masterminds" Achievement, which requires players to beat all three Criminal Mastermind challenges in The Doomsday Heist — all while keeping every team member alive.
3 Elden Ring
Explore Every Corner Of The Lands Between
Elden Ring
- Released
- February 25, 2022
- Developer(s)
- From Software
- Platform(s)
- PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X
Notable Achievements:
- Legendary Armaments (Collect nine legendary armaments throughout the game)
- Legendary Talismans (Collect eight legendary talismans throughout the game)
- Elden Ring (Unlock every Achievement in the game)
Similar to other FromSoftware games, Elden Ring is not a walk in the park by any means. This game is designed to challenge players' reflexes, exploration skills, and, above all, patience and dedication. This begs the question, why would anyone ever want to put themselves through more obstacles by completing 100% of the game? The answer is: It's a lot of fun.
Elden Ring is FromSoftware's first open-world game, and as such, it's arguably harder to get every single Trophy/Achievement than in previous releases, as players not only have to defeat bosses and find items this time around, but they'll also have to explore every corner of the Lands Between for 100% completion. With Achievements like "Legendary Armaments," which has a meager 2.24% average unlock rate among players, it's clear that, while very entertaining, fully completing Elden Ring won't be for everyone.
2 Gears of War 3
Funny Easter Eggs And Great Executions
Gears of War 3
- Released
- September 20, 2011
- Developer(s)
- Epic Games
- Platform(s)
- Xbox 360
- Genre(s)
- Third-Person Shooter
Notable Achievements:
- Seriously 3.0 (Reach level 100 and earn every Onyx medal)
- Lambency (Execute an Epic employee or someone who already has Lambency in Versus multiplayer)
- I've Done It All (Earn at least one of each of the original 132 combat ribbons)
The Gears of War franchise helped make Xbox what it is today, and it's not surprising, as it still has one of the most interesting universes in gaming. The contrast between Gears of War 1 and Gears of War 3 is black and white, with the former being almost a horror game, whereas the latter is much brighter, set on sandy shores and focusing more on action.
Gears Of War: Best Game Reveals, Ranked
The Gears of War series has become renowned for its epic reveal trailers, but which one stands as the most impactful of them all?
When the conclusion to the trilogy was released, hundreds of thousands of players went to the midnight release, hoping to be able to join the action as soon as possible. However, only a handful of these people would go on to obtain 100% completion. One of the hardest Achievements to unlock was Seriously 3.0, which required players to reach Level 100 and obtain every Onyx medal. This might not sound too difficult, but to put things into perspective, to get the MVP Onyx medal, players must earn 500 MVP ribbons, which requires playing thousands of online matches and excelling at most of them. Luckily, Gears of War 3 was incredibly well-balanced, and it was a blast to play both in campaign and multiplayer modes, so getting 100% wasn't even that much of a chore.
1 Assassin's Creed 2
Multiple Upgrades And Several Assassination Approaches
Assassin's Creed 2
- Released
- November 7, 2009
- Developer(s)
- Ubisoft
- Platform(s)
- macOS, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One
Notable Achievements:
- Victory Lies In Preparation (Get all hidden blades, item pouches, and armor upgrades for Ezio)
- In Memory of Petruccio (Collect all the Feathers)
- No-hitter (Kill 10 enemies while remaining in conflict without being hit)
Ezio Auditore da Firenze is, for many Assassin's Creed veterans, the best main character in its universe, and many agree that his trilogy is the highest point of the franchise. Assassins Creed 2 not only introduced new combat mechanics, but it also featured the first hidden blade design that didn't require finger amputations. What's more, the game managed to masterfully make players care about Ezio, making them suffer his family's demise as their own.
Assassin's Creed 2 also introduced a wide range of new armor sets, hidden blade upgrades, swords, and daggers, which must be collected in their entirety to unlock the "Victory Lies In Preparation" Achievement. To get 100% completion, the game also requires players to perform certain assassinations in specific ways, distract guards creatively, and collect all the feathers spread across the Italian countryside. With a game so special, getting 100% completion is not a task; it's an absolute pleasure.
