Tower of Babel: Survivors of Chaos is a new game featuring loot-driven, fast-paced action-RPG gameplay and roguelite survival mechanics in a dark fantasy world that is brought to life with hand-drawn 2D art. Developer Nanoo released the demo of Tower of Babel: Survivors of Chaos on Steam in January 2025, with an Early Access release expected on May 19.

Diablo is a popular game series to mimic, with dozens of games taking inspiration from its fast-paced hack-and-slash gameplay, looting mechanics, and equipment system. Vampire Survivors, on the other hand, delivers a simple and addictive experience in a roguelite format. The combination of some of the best parts of these two titles makes Tower of Babel: Survivors of Chaos one of the most intriguing upcoming indie roguelites.

Best Games To Play If You Like Diablo 4

For those who've grown tired of Sanctuary and are looking for a new challenge, there are plenty of great games like Diablo 4 that deserve a look.

The game places players in the role of a lone warrior exploring the mysterious Tower of Babel. This legendary building is said to grant one's deepest desires, filled with unimaginable treasures. However, in the way lie many dangers. Enemies in the Tower of Babel: Survivors of Chaos arrive in overwhelming, ever-harder hordes, which forces players to seek better loot and upgrade their characters with new skills and abilities. Thanks to the randomized loot system and increasingly higher-tier equipment, players can achieve near-infinite upgrades.

Tower of Babel Demo Introduces Skill-Based Survival Gameplay

The demo of Tower of Babel: Survivors of Chaos features a decent look into the full game, allowing players to traverse through the first floor of the tower. Even in the very first level, players get to experience the relentless barrage of enemies that is reminiscent of Vampire Survivors. These include various types of skeletons, bats, and even spell-casting liches. Players can keep the equipment they've collected, even when failing to finish the floor, provided the sneaky goblin doesn't steal it. However, upgrades have to be earned again when attempting the floor again.

Tower of Babel: Survivors of Chaos provides an addictive gameplay loop that rewards players often. Instead of playing for hours to acquire meaningful upgrades, just a few minutes of gameplay results in various enhancements to the character. Each level-up presents the player with three different, random upgrade options. The loot and equipment systems are clearly heavily influenced by Diablo, offering a very familiar UI and rarity progression.

Between floor attempts, players can access a lobby with NPCs to manage inventory, not unlike Diablo 4's various towns and cities within Sanctuary. Players can upgrade and sell gear, identify treasures, and buy equipment that has been stolen by the goblin, giving respite from constant mayhem. While in the demo, the availability of NPCs is limited, the full version seems to offer plenty of versatility. Tower of Babel: Survivors of Chaos can be wishlisted now on Steam, with a planned Early Access release on May 19.
