Popular games are always surging on Steam, while the audience grows day by day, gathering around the bonfire of popularity. But the truth is that it's hard for a game to become an absolute success on Steam. Games must target a wide audience and have a very particular set of mechanics that are both fun and engaging.
So, what about a game where you need to destroy an evil wizard's tower using the lamest spells? Or what about a mixture of Tarkov, Fallout, and COD? Tired of the everyday routine? Try a survival roadtrip through the countryside, with a motorhome, in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. These games are quickly becoming popular, or are some of the most-wishlisted games with available demos in the top rankings. Be one of the first to try their mechanics and enjoy their early stages before they explode!

1 Megabonk
Is Having A Tremendous Surge Of Popularity
Megabonk
- Released
- September 18, 2025
Megabonk is having a blast, and so are players trying this roguelike where non-stop action pushes them to the brink at every moment. Fighting endless hordes of enemies, while leveling up their characters and unlocking new weapons, or gaining boons from shrines, is just the tip of the iceberg for this strange yet hilarious game.
The secret to surviving until the very end is to snowball fast and reach the later stages with an Uber build that destroys everything on sight. But the problem is that players need to face not only regular and Elite Enemies, but Portal bosses and even a final boss at the end of the road. So, balancing out damage, attack speed, and other stats is a must to survive until the very end and emerge victorious. Plus, with to many characters to unlock and challenges to beat, it is no wonder this game is becoming increasingly popular. It makes your blood boil (in the good sense).

Ashes of Creation was a highly anticipated title, and fans of games like Albion Online, World of Warcraft, and Lineage 2 are quite hyped about this game that combines all the good things from those games, and much more. Though a bit rough on the edges, one of the most positive aspects of the game is its multiclass system, which allows players to create up to 64 different types of characters, which is a lot to be honest.
Believe it or not, this game satisfies even the most hardcore fans of classic MMOs, while also quelling the urge for survival crafting that has become popular in more modern games as of late. Plus, it has a player-driven economy/social system where players rule over cities, build together, and craft together. It's quite a big thing!
3 YAPYAP
Here Comes The Black Horse No One Expected
- Release Date: TBA
- Developers: Maison Bap
- Available Platforms: PC (Steam)
YAPYAP is a hilarious combo of dungeon crawler and social game, where survival horror merges with a magic setting. Five valiant (or dumb) apprentices need to climb the tower of an enemy mage and destroy it from within. Armed with the most ridiculous spells, which are not as powerful as the horrors trapped inside the tower, players need to use the microphone to pronounce the incantations without missing, or the results can be dire. So, lots of fails, lots of fun.
The miscreants need to vandalize the tower while eluding the Archmage ruling over it and his defenses, which include traps, monsters, and unspeakable horrors. So, it's also similar to Phasmophobia and Mage Arena, quite a decent combo that has been attracting more and more enthusiastic fans every day. Currently, there's a demo available to play on Steam, which is enough to see the potential of this game, plus, it's one of the top 50 most-wishlisted games on Steam.

PIONER is an extremely hectic game that combines a Fallout-esque aesthetic with Call of Duty graphics and modern arsenal, and adds survival extraction shooter to the mix. From that amalgam comes a game that has the best of heavyweights like Escape from Tarkov and the defunct The Cycle.
Though it is true that this title is still on Early Access and dragging out several matchmaking issues, the sheer amount of content to enjoy seems to be the main attraction of this game, alongside its unique survival mechanics based on crafting, PvEvP, and a vast arsenal of weapons to destroy other players, or the rogue human enemies from the factions that prowl the Island. It's an intense experience, and one worth trying.
5 Survive The Nights
Has One Of The Most Unique Zombie Survival Experiences
- Release Date: Dec 5 2025
- Developers: a2z Interactive
- Available Platforms: PC (Steam)
Survive The Nights is an unorthodox Zombie Survival where players need to be constantly on the move, trying to overcome the hordes of undead attempting to feast on their flesh. It combines cooperative action with survival crafter/builder, and includes a fully customizable motorhome, that players can equip with spikes, barbed wire, and more.
In fact, all vehicles in the game can be customized to be mobile fortresses. From a classic Muscle Car to a Prison Bus that can be turned into a mincemeat machine. The game is a bit green and rough around the edges, but it's one of the most fun zombie survival cooperative experiences made since 7 Days to Die. And that speaks volumes about this game's potential.
