Gears of War: Reloaded has released its patch notes for its initial launch day update, which will go live upon its release on August 26. According to The Coalition, the first Gears of War: Reloaded update is "based on technical observations and community feedback" from the game's recent multiplayer beta.
Gears of War: Reloaded is the latest attempt to bring Epic Games' 2006 pioneering third-person shooter to modern gamers. Ten years ago, the game's first remaster, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition was released, and the core gameplay still holds up enough for The Coalition to bring it back again with Gears of War: Reloaded. This time, though, it comes with a very important difference. Gears of War: Reloaded is coming to PlayStation 5, marking the first time the franchise has ever appeared on a Sony platform, a move that continues to break down barriers between console exclusivity.
Gears of War: Reloaded May Be Either Too Early or Too Late
Gears of War: Reloaded lands between major milestones that could either make it too early or too late to the party, depending on what comes next.
With Gears of War: Reloaded's release now just a few days away, The Coalition has published a list of further improvements from the game's multiplayer beta that will go live in an update on August 26. Of the changes, a few stand out from the crowd. Cross-platform players can now easily identify the console others are playing on, and it has been made easier to invite players to a lobby regardless of platform. Matchmaking has seen some general improvements, including more dedicated servers and "scaled up online services." The iconic Gnasher has received a buff, too, with "tighter spread, improved damage and hit registration."
There are a ton of solid improvements to the PC-specific experience in the next Gears of War: Reloaded update. A 240FPS framerate settings option has been added, as well as push-to-talk voice chat support. Ultrawide monitor support has been enhanced, and there are also some PC optimizations for "improved gameplay smoothness." It's also Steam Deck-verified, as well as optimized for ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X devices.
Gears of War: Reloaded pre-load is already live on some platforms ahead of its August 26 release, and it's almost time to take another trip down memory lane. For those who have remained loyal to PlayStation over the years, there's a good chance that Gears of War: Reloaded may be a brand-new experience altogether, in which case it's an opportunity to see what all the fuss is about. Whether other Gears of War games make their way to PlayStation still remains to be seen, but the original is an excellent starting point nonetheless.
