Like with Lantern Rite Festivals, Genshin Impac t's summer-themed events are one of the most anticipated updates of the year. As per the game's tradition, this year's summer event is set to drop in Version 4.8. While Version 4.7 is not over yet, several leaks for the next update have been shared over the past few weeks. A recent Genshin Impact leak revealed a new 4.8 limited area called Simulanka filled with stunning visuals. Now, a new leak has revealed which characters are going to star in this year's summer event adventure.
Prominent Genshin Impact leaker GuraLeak has shared some in-game screenshots of the next summer event's main story. The images show the Traveller and Paimon interacting with characters from different regions, some of whom had never crossed paths before. Wanderer (Sumeru), Navia (Fontaine), and Kirara (Inazuma) appear in the scenes, as well as an unknown small NPC girl wearing a Fontaine outfit. Navia is seen without her hat in some of the shots, which implies her losing her hat is part of the storyline. According to a prior leak, the next Genshin Impact main summer event is titled "The Summertide Scales and Tales" and players can get a free Kirara as a reward.

The captures also show Keqing (Liyue) joining the other characters. However, there is a chance Keqing is not part of the story, as she is often used as a substitute for another character in Genshin Impact's beta versions. This is usually because the developers want to hide a new skin for said secret character. Previously, a Genshin Impact leak revealed skins for Nilou and Kirara, so it's possible that the mysterious character Keqing is replacing will be Nilou in a new outfit. Some rumors have also hinted at the first appearance of the mysterious Alice, Klee's adventurer mother, along with long-speculated Durin.
Version 4.8 will reportedly launch on July 17, and while very little official information has been shared, Genshin Impact confirmed new Dendro 5-star character Emilie. She is known to be a polearm user in battle, but her profession is a renowned perfumer from Fontaine. Emilie is expected to join the playable roster in the next update and will probably be the last new Fontaine character before Genshin Impact moves on to Natlan in Version 5.0.
