Ganyu has recently reached the milestone of going over 500 days without a character rerun banner in Genshin Impact. Meanwhile, it’s been even longer since Shenhe’s last rerun. These two Cryo characters are considered top-tier in their respective team roles, so overall, this is sad news for Genshin Impact players who have been waiting to expand their roster with more Cryo characters.
Ganyu and Shenhe’s eventual rerun banners in Genshin Impact are bound to be highly celebrated moments for players who have been waiting for these particular characters, given how long it’s been since either of them had a rerun. However, Genshin Impact could make Ganyu and Shenhe’s reruns worth the wait with a much-needed rework to the Cyro Element, bringing it up to the standards of the latest meta.
How Genshin Impact Could Make Ganyu and Shenhe’s Reruns Worth the Wait
Ganyu and Shenhe have already reached some of the highest numbers for Genshin Impact’s character-rerun waiting list, but unfortunately, these numbers will likely continue to grow before these characters get their overdue rerun. This is because the Event Wish Banners in Genshin Impact for the next few update versions have already leaked, and none of these leaks point toward Ganyu or Shenhe appearing in the rerun banners. So far, the 5-Star characters have already leaked for Genshin Impact’s 5.2 and 5.3 banners, so unless Ganyu and Shenhe become available in a dedicated event, fans may have to wait until at least version 5.5 to get these two characters.
While the wait for both Ganyu and Shenhe will continue to grow for the foreseeable future, Genshin Impact could make the wait for these characters all the more worthwhile by giving the Cryo element a highly requested rework. Recently, fans have been calling for a rework of Genshin Impact’s Cryo Element with the main points of criticism for this Element being that its reactions and synergy with other Elements can no longer compete with the latest meta in Genshin Impact.
Why Fans Are Calling for a Rework of Genshin Impact’s Cryo Element
Some of the main reasons why fans have started debating why Genshin Impact’s Cryo Element deserves a rework are because it lacks an Elemental reaction with Dendro, its Freeze reaction is oftentimes useless against bosses, and its synergy with Physical damage generally requires players to compromise on investing in other Elemental reactions in their team composition. So, overall, unless players are committed to playing as a particular Cryo character, most team compositions could benefit from investing in other Elements and their reactions.
Geo and Anemo also lack Elemental reactions with Dendro in Genshin Impact.
It’s Time For Genshin Impact to Start Considering Character and Element Reworks
While there’s no shortage of Geo characters in Genshin Impact like the current Cryo Character rerun situation, Geo is still in a similar situation as Cryo, with fans calling for a Geo rework in Genshin Impact since this Element also suffers from limited Elemental reactions. Especially with the new World Level 9 and the updated enemy variety in the Spiral Abyss and Imaginarium Theater, the time for Genshin Impact to consider buffing old characters and underperforming Elements is higher than it’s ever been.
Genshin Impact’s meta has changed a lot over the years, and unfortunately, some things haven’t been able to keep up with the latest meta. This has become an increasingly problematic trend for Genshin Impact, far beyond just any one particular character suffering from power creep, with the Geo and Cryo Elements largely considered in need of a major rework. So, instead of abandoning these outdated characters and Elements, it’s arguably time for Genshin Impact to rebalance combat to keep up with the changing times and make some of the outdated characters once again relevant.
