Summary
- Genshin Impact players may face longer wait times for reruns of five-star characters, which is a problem for free-to-play players who can only save for one at a time.
- The addition of more characters each year could lead to triple banners, exacerbating the issue and making it harder for players to obtain their desired five-star characters.
- Limited birthday banners could be a potential solution to alleviate the problem and allow players to plan ahead for their favorite characters, ensuring they don't have to wait an extended period of time before they are available again.
With how many five-stars are coming out, it’s only going to be longer and longer until Genshin Impact fans see some reruns, like what happened with Eula. This is a serious problem for F2P players who can’t save for more than one five-star at a time. Primogems are a limited source unless players are willing to spend money on the game, be it the Welkin Moon, Battle pass, or buying Genesis Crystals from the shop.
Genshin Impact even faces the possible problem of triple banners due to consistent number of added characters each year. Without an equal amount of new ways to farm Primogems, this could be a horrible idea. Players would have to go longer and longer until they see their ideal five-star even if their banners come around because they simply wouldn't have the resources.
Genshin Impact: The Future of Character Banners
With the threat of triple banners coming to the game, Genshin Impact Primogems may become more precious than ever. Many players plan to save up for multiple characters at a time under the assumption that they have the time to gather all the needed resources. But if, in the worst case scenario, all available banners were the ones they'd been saving for, they'd be doomed.
Some fans have been spreading around a potential solution though: limited birthday banners. This is something that everyone can correctly predict the timing of, with no need to rely on Genshin Impact leaks or rumors. HoYoVerse has done this before as well in Tears of Themis. Bringing this concept over to Genshin Impact would solve the problem even if triple banners were added. Suddenly, worrying about the next time fans will see a character wouldn't be a problem anymore, as they could plan ahead for the character's birthday.
Without a solution like that, it could take ages before players see their favorite character. Genshin Impact's Eula had gone without a banner since November 2021 before finally getting her rerun in July 2023. Almost two years had gone by without players having access to her. HoYoverse could also then plan their banners smarter too: if someone's birthday is coming up, they might not need an extra banner and then HoYoverse can put out more characters at once.
Four Star Banners in Genshin Impact
Though this solves problems for five-stars, four-stars need to fit into this too. There are solutions for this too. They can either get a discounted price in Paimon's Bargains shop if they're available like:
- Lisa
- Amber
- Kaeya
- Barbara
- Ningguang
- Beidou
- Razor
- Xingqiu
- Bennett
- Fischl
- Xiangling
This isn't the only solution on the table. They could get boosted rates on any five-star birthday banners or boosted rates on the Standard Banner. After all, every four-star will eventually make their way over to the Standard Banner.
Primogems Complicate Banner Access in Genshin Impact
While these options offer a helping hand, it does nothing to quell the issue of limited access to Primogems. Every new version gets over 10k Primogems from exploring new areas, quests, events, daily commissions, and any extra surveys or codes that drop over the course of that version. But players who don't intend to fully max out areas to 100% will miss out on those Primogems. It's a lot of work to max out a nation's reputation in Genshin Impact. Doing that will give players the Oculi compass and treasure compass necessary to get areas as high as possible, but it still takes a significant amount of time to accomplish.
