The Fontaine region in Genshin Impact has a lot of Meka enemies, and some of them are powerful enough to even take the role of a normal world boss. The Icewind Suite was added in Genshin Impact 4.0, and in version 4.1, the Experimental Field Generator became available.
Experimental Field Generator has a named version, Prototype Cal. Breguet, and this boss drops Tourbillon Device. Since this item is required to Ascend some characters, here’s how players can beat Experimental Field Generator in Genshin Impact.
Genshin Impact: Best Weapons For Wriothesley
Wriothesley is the first Cryo character in Genshin Impact that uses a Catalyst, but he’s a melee unit, similar to Heizou.
Experimental Field Generator Location In Genshin Impact
The Experimental Field Generator is located in the Fontaine Research Institute of Kinetic Energy Engineering Region, northeast of the Court of Fontaine, and northwest of the Marcotte Station. Players can easily access it from either the Liffey Region or the Mary-Ann Memorial Park Statue of the Seven. Go east from the former, and west from the latter.
There’s a Teleport Waypoint north of the boss to access the enemy quickly next time.
How To Beat Experimental Field Generator In Genshin Impact
Unlike most bosses in Genshin Impact where there’s a method to incapacitate the boss, the Experimental Field Generator doesn’t have this state. Instead, the Meka has a normal and enhanced state, and there’s a way to quickly end the boss’ enhanced state.
After several attacks in the normal state, the boss will teleport to the center of the arena and enter the Gravity Reduction Field state. While the effect is active, the boss becomes enhanced and will deal powerful Geo DMG instead of Physical. Thanks to the Geo attribute, the boss has 70% Geo RES, but the RES to other damage types is merely 10%, even on Physical. Therefore, people shouldn’t use Geo if they wish to effectively fight this enemy.
Once in the enhanced state, players can end it by hitting the boss with Pneuma three times. This won’t incapacitate the boss but will end the enhanced state and make it easier to attack the enemy.
Unfortunately, since Pneuma attacks from characters have around 10s cooldown and this interval is not affected by CD-reset ability like Sacrificial weapons in Genshin Impact, players must either use three Pneuma characters or be patient and wait until the character can summon their Pneuma DMG again.
While in the Gravity Reduction Field state, the field will cause characters to jump higher, and this is meant to help people dodge some of the Experimental Field Generator’s attacks. Additionally, players can also gain some Achievements in Genshin Impact during this state:
- The Distance of the Moon: Hit the boss 11 times with Plunging Attacks when the enhanced state is active.
- Gravity Front: Defeat the boss without getting hit by Gravity Ripple. Gravity Ripple is the first move the boss uses when it enters the enhanced state and before the state ends.
These Achievements are part of the Challenger: Series VIII section and reward five Genshin Impact Primogems each.
