Early datamining for Version 5.8 has surprisingly revealed Bennett's new skin for Genshin Impact, finally giving the beloved 4-Star his Natlan outfit. Cosmetics in Genshin Impact are largely divided into three categories: gliders, outfits, and echoes. Whereas Envisaged Echoes are locked behind formidable challenges in the Imaginarium Theater, gliders and outfits are a lot more accessible. Version 5.8 is set to add two new alternate skins – one for Bennett and one for Yelan, with the latter being the game's second 5-Star outfit.
Bennett in Genshin Impact is one of the game's most powerful 4-Stars, an impressive feat considering that he launched in Version 1.0. His ATK buffs and healing have made him a staple on many Genshin Impact teams, and it took until Iansan in Version 5.5 for HoYoverse to introduce a character that occupied a similar niche. From a lore standpoint, Bennett has long been suspected of having Natlanese heritage, and it would seem that the developers will finally provide a definitive answer in Version 5.8.
Genshin Impact 5.8 Leak Teases New Skins for Two Fan-Favorite Characters
Recent Genshin Impact leaks suggest that two fan-favorite characters will be getting brand-new outfits in the upcoming Version 5.8.
Thanks to Mero and Hiragara, Genshin Impact players can preview a fully textured model of Bennett's new outfit from all angles. Two things immediately stick out: the sheer number of design elements borrowed from Natlan, and Bennett's color scheme. Unlike Yelan's skin, Genshin Impact players will be able to unlock Bennett's new outfit for free by engaging with the Summer Event in Version 5.8. The Summer Event will take place on Tenochitzotoc, the island where Natlan's war with the Abyss began, and presumably also the location of the Mare Jivari in Genshin Impact.
Genshin Impact: Bennett Gets a Natlanese Makeover in Version 5.8
The community's impression has thus far been positive, with many players being excited for Bennett to have a more stylish look compared to his default outfit. Given how many teams use Bennett as a healer in Genshin Impact, his skin will no doubt get a lot of mileage. From a story standpoint, the annual Summer Event has always been a vehicle for HoYoverse to develop its characters beyond the Archon Quest. Simulanka famously set the stage for Durin while furthering Wanderer's emotional growth. Version 5.8 may end up doing the same to Bennett, especially if he gets the chance to engage with other Natlan characters.
In addition to the new skins for Yelan and Bennett, Version 5.8 is also expected to add Ineffa, a 5-Star Electro Polearm, and the first character from Nod-Krai. While she won't have any synergy with Bennett, Ineffa is built with Electro-Charged in mind, potentially making her a great teammate for Yelan in Genshin Impact. Version 5.8 is set to launch on July 30, 2025.
