Alhaitham is a Dendro-infused DPS in Genshin Impact that specializes in generating Chisel-Light Mirrors to deal a massive amount of elemental damage with his auto-attacks and Elemental Burst. His playstyle is comparable to Keqing in terms of animation, but their overall kits differ significantly due to the Chisel-Light Mirrors' unique mechanic. To maximize Alhaitham's damage output, it is important to understand the proper rotation and timing of his abilities.
As Alhaitham is best suited to be the on-field main DPS, his weapon of choice should reflect that with its primary stat and sub-stats. In general, weapons that have high CRIT DMG, CRIT Rate, and Elemental Mastery should be preferred for optimal performance. With that being said, there are plenty of suitable weapon options in Genshin Impact, both 5-star and 4-star, such as the newly introduced signature weapon Light of Foliar Incision, Primordial Jade Cutter,
Mistsplitter Reforged, the Black Sword, and others, all of which can provide the necessary boost to Alhaitham's on-field performance.
9 Iron Sting (R5)
- Primary Stats: 510 Base ATK
- Secondary Stats: 165 Elemental Mastery
- R5 Effect: Dealing Elemental DMG increases all DMG by 12% for 6s. Max 2 stacks. Can occur once every 1s.
As a forgeable weapon, Iron Sting is a great free-to-play option that can be easily refined up to level 5. The passive effect of Iron Sting is especially useful for players as it can stack up quickly and be maintained easily while providing 24% additional damage at 2 stacks.
8 Toukabou Shigure
- Primary Stats: 510 Base ATK
- Secondary Stats: 165 Elemental Mastery
- R5 Effect: After an attack hits opponents, it will inflict an instance of Cursed Parasol upon one of them for 10s. This effect can be triggered once every 15s. If this opponent is taken out during Cursed Parasol's duration, Cursed Parasol's CD will be refreshed immediately. The character wielding this weapon will deal 32% more DMG to the opponent affected by Cursed Parasol.
Toukabou Shigure is an exciting new limited-event weapon, available during Genshin Impact's Patch 3.3 Akitsu Kimodameshi event. As another Elemental Mastery weapon, it shares many similarities to Iron Sting; however, it allows the wielder to deal 32% more damage to marked opponents for 10 seconds.
This duration is perfectly in sync with Alhaitham's rotation, with only 5 seconds of off-time, allowing players to easily transition to other characters in their team for a seamless combo set-up.
7 Harbinger of Dawn
- Primary Stats: 401 Base ATK
- Secondary Stats: 46.9% Crit DMG
- R5 Effect: When HP is above 90%, increases CRIT Rate by 28%.
Harbinger of Dawn is an unexpectedly powerful DPS option for a 3-star weapon. Despite its lower ATK value compared to 4-star and 5-star weapons, it can be a great alternative if Alhaitham is kept above 90% HP. However, since Hyperbloom, Bloom, and Burgeon all deal damage to the active character when Dendro Cores explode, this weapon may only be viable in team compositions with healing or strong shielding capabilities.
6 Freedom Sworn
- Primary Stats: 608 Base ATK
- Secondary Stats: 198 Elemental Mastery
- R1 Effect: A part of the "Millennial Movement" that wanders amidst the winds. Increases DMG by 10%. When the character wielding this weapon triggers Elemental Reactions, they gain a Sigil of Rebellion. This effect can be triggered once every 0.5s and can be triggered even if said character is not on the field. When you possess 2 Sigils of Rebellion, all of them will be consumed and all nearby party members will obtain "Millennial Movement: Song of Resistance" for 12s. "Millennial Movement: Song of Resistance" increases Normal, Charged and Plunging Attack DMG by 16% and increases ATK by 20%. Once this effect is triggered, you will not gain Sigils of Rebellion for 20s. Of the many effects of the "Millennial Movement," buffs of the same type will not stack.
Freedom Sworn is currently the only 5-star Elemental Mastery sword in Genshin Impact and can be a great choice due to its ability to increase Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attack Damage Dealt as well as Alhaitham's ATK. However, since it lacks Crit Rate and Crit DMG, it may not be as effective as the upcoming 5-star weapons on this list.
5 Black Sword (R5)
- Primary Stats: 510 Base ATK
- Secondary Stats: 27.6% CRIT Rate
- R5 Effect: Increases DMG dealt by Normal and Charged Attacks by 40%. Additionally, regenerates 100% of ATK as HP when Normal and Charged Attacks score a CRIT Hit. This effect can occur once every 5s.
Black Sword is an excellent 4-star DPS sword with a CRIT Rate secondary stat and passive effect that can increase Alhaitham's damage output, as well as grant him a small amount of healing with each crit hit. This weapon can be immensely valuable in teams that are focused on generating Dendro Cores.
Unfortunately, the only way to get this weapon is through the Battle Pass, provided Gnostic Hymn is unlocked, so it may not be the most accessible or easy-to-obtain option for all players.
4 Haran Geppaku Futsu
- Primary Stat: 608 Base ATK
- Secondary Stat: 33.1% CRIT Rate
- R1 Effect: Obtain 12% All Elemental DMG Bonus. When other nearby party members use Elemental Skills, the character equipping this weapon will gain 1 Wavespike stack. Max 2 stacks. This effect can be triggered once every 0.3s. When the character equipping this weapon uses an Elemental Skill, all stacks of Wavespike will be consumed to gain Rippling Upheaval: each stack of Wavespike consumed will increase Normal Attack DMG by 20% for 8s.
Haran Geppaku Futsu is an exceptional 5-star DPS sword that can be effectively used by on-field DPS characters that focus on Normal Attack. As such, it is an excellent alternative for Alhaitham, provided that Alhaitham's Elemental skill is used after other party members.
This shouldn't be a major issue for players as it is necessary for an optimal team rotation that focuses on Alhaitham as the main DPS, but there may be slight gaps in the effect due to the lengthy cooldown of Alhaitham's Elemental Skill.
3 Mistsplitter Reforged
- Primary Stat: 674 Base ATK
- Secondary Stat: 44.1% CRIT DMG
- R1 Effect: Gain a 12% Elemental DMG Bonus for all elements and receive the might of the Mistsplitter's Emblem. At stack levels 1/2/3, Mistsplitter's Emblem provides an 8/16/28% Elemental DMG Bonus for the character's Elemental Type. The character will obtain 1 stack of Mistsplitter's Emblem in each of the following scenarios: Normal Attack deals Elemental DMG (stack lasts 5s), casting Elemental Burst (stack lasts 10s); Energy is less than 100% (stack disappears when Energy is full). Each stack's duration is calculated independently.
Mistsplitter Reforged offers a high Base ATK and a decent CRIT DMG amount, making it a great weapon for many main DPS sword users, including Alhaitham. Although its maximum stack conditions may be difficult to achieve at all times, the Elemental DMG bonus it provides can still be substantial, making it an excellent choice even without the full buff.
2 Primordial Jade Cutter
- Primary Stat: 542 Base ATK
- Secondary Stat: 44.1% CRIT Rate
- R1 Effect: HP increased by 20%. Additionally, provides an ATK Bonus based on 1.2% of the wielder's Max HP.
Although
Primordial Jade Cutter has a low base ATK, its high CRIT Rate more than makes up for it, allowing players to focus on other stats such as CRIT DMG and Elemental Mastery. Furthermore, although Alhaitham's skills don't scale with HP, his relatively high Base HP can be converted to ATK, making this weapon quite beneficial regardless.
1 Light of Foliar Incision
- Primary Stat: 542 Base ATK
- Secondary Stat: 88.2% CRIT DMG
- R1 Effect: CRIT Rate is increased by 4%. After Normal Attacks deal Elemental DMG, the Foliar Incision effect will be obtained, increasing DMG dealt by Normal Attacks and Elemental Skills by 120% of Elemental Mastery. This effect will disappear after 28 DMG instances or 12s. You can obtain Foliar Incision once every 12s.
Light of Foliar Incision is Alhaitham's signature weapon for good reason. Not only does it provide an impressive 88.2% CRIT DMG bonus, but it also grants a bonus to CRIT Rate and an Elemental DMG buff based on the wielder's Elemental Mastery. Furthermore, its duration and cooldown are perfectly aligned to Alhaitham's combo rotation, making it one of the most powerful weapons in the game for him, as well as some other DPS sword users.
Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
