It’s always fun when a boss in Genshin Impact is hard enough to get you to stop and build a strategy to be able to beat them. That’s the case with most Night’s Trial bosses as each one of them has a unique theme that revolves around their kits and mechanics.
Take Chimalli's Shade as an example. You enter the arena, and you immediately notice there’s water everywhere around the arena. The boss is constantly wet thanks to its Hydro shield, and that's both its strength and weakness.

How To Beat Chimalli's Shade In Genshin Impact
To beat Chimalli's Shade in Genshin Impact, you have to break its shield, which is not an easy task. Once the battle starts, the boss starts with a shield that takes minimal DMG from any Element or reaction in Genshin Impact. The best way to break the shield is by having at least one Cryo user on your team who can keep freezing the Hydro spheres that approach the boss. Once you freeze these balls, hit them with any Charged attack aiming at Chimalli's location, and it should take a big portion of their shield.
This mechanic is similar to how you can beat Cryo Hypostasis in Genshin Impact.
Once you break the shield, the boss will enter a vulnerable state where your character can deal normal damage to the boss. After a few seconds, Chimalli's Shade will wake up and start attacking back, so be careful and be ready to dodge these hits.
Finally, after a while, if you didn’t beat Chimalli's Shade on time, they’ll generate their shield back. However, this time, Chimalli's Shade will start summoning numerous Hydro spheres that quickly approach them to fill their shield meter. During this state, you have to be extra quick in freezing and launching them at the boss.
Unfortunately, the boss will not stand around taking all this without hitting back. There are two attacks that you need to avoid when fighting Chimalli's Shade in Genshin Impact. The first one is after breaking Chimalli's shield, if the boss can regen their shield back, they’ll hit a shockwave across the arena that will one-shot any character on the field.

As for the second attack, it’s the most dangerous attack Chimalli's Shade has in its arsenal. While their shield is on, Chimalli's Shade will summon multiple hydro torrents across the arena as they charge their Ultimate attack. After a few seconds, it’ll launch a strong Hydro beam at your active character that will deal a continuous and massive amount of damage. During this state, you’ll have to freeze one of these Hydro torrents and stand behind them to block the Hydro beam.

Just like any other Night’s Trial, you can get three Achievements from fighting Chimalli's Shade in Genshin Impact. Each Achievements can be obtained separately, so you’ll have to beat Chimalli's Shade three times to get all its Achievements.

Finally, you get the third Chimalli's Shade Achievement when you stop the Hydro Spheres from refilling Chimalli's shield and instead use the ball to remove the boss' shield. This needs fast movement and precision hits. You get 20 Primogems from completing the third Chimalli's Shade Achievement in Genshin Impact.

You can find Chimalli's Shade Obsidian Totem east of the Teticpac Peak in Genshin Impact. You can teleport to the northern Ancestral Temple Waypoint, then move south to find the Obsidian Totem next to the waterfall.
