Aside from the exciting combat and exploration that Genshin Impact has to offer, the game also has a multiplayer feature for anyone looking to play with friends. This makes it easier for players from across the world to meet new people and get to know the gaming community much more easily.
Genshin Impact Can be Completed Solo or Co-op
Genshin Impact developer miHoYo assures players that the upcoming free-to-play, open-world title will be equally accessible to solo players.
Genshin Impact’s Co-Op Mode unlocks upon reaching Adventure Rank 16, and players can do this by gaining more Adventure EXP through quests and challenges. From there, they can either let people into their world and join other worlds to meet new friends.
How To Play Co-Op Mode In Genshin Impact
There are two buttons on the screen that players can use to reach the Co-Op Mode menu. The first is through the Paimon Menu, and the second is through the Co-Op icon situated on the top left of the screen. Once you’re on the new menu, you can do one of two things:
- Enter a new UID and join a friend’s world
- Request to join a random player’s world
Hosting Co-Op Mode
Just like when you travel to other player’s worlds, Genshin Impact players can also travel to your world if your permission settings allow you to do so. You can find the permission tab on the bottom left of the Co-Op Mode menu, and you can choose from three different setting options:
- Directly join your world
- Request to join your world
- Simply reject people from entering your world in that session
If someone does join your world, you have 10 seconds to decide whether to invite them in or not. The same goes for you joining someone else’s world.
How Matching Works For Genshin Impact Co-Op
Matching is only a function players can use during Domain challenges. It primarily exists to help players who find difficulty tackling a domain by themselves. Having a co-op team sometimes helps, and this is especially true if a player at a higher Adventure Rank joins the team. You just need to click the ‘Match’ button when you enter the domain and wait for someone to join your world. Then, just click invite to co-op and these matched players will join the Domain team. Players may also have a chance to enter another person’s world and the same goes for that too.
How To Add And Play With Friends
Since only four players can join at a time, this means each player can only bring one character when they enter your world. It’s a little different if only three players join, because this will mean that the host will get a choice of two characters, whereas the Co-Op players have only one. Furthermore, you can also only join if your World Level is the same or lower.
You cannot enter a world with a higher World Level than your own.
To add friends, click the ‘Friends’ button on the Paimon Menu, and you’ll come to a new screen. There will be three tabs, and the middle tab, ‘Add Friends,’ is what you need to click. You’ll then have to enter your friend's UID and click the ‘green arrow’ to send the Friend Request. Once your friend receives it, they just need to accept it, and they’ll pop up in your Friends List whenever they are online.
Additionally, you can also send a Friend Request through the ‘Add Friend’ button you’ll see on a person’s profile. Clicking it will automatically send a request and you usually cannot unsend it.
