Since Genshin Impact's introduction in 2020, there was only one male Electro user: Razor. However, another has finally been introduced: Cyno, a five-star Electro polearm user from Sumeru. This Anubis-themed character is famous from the Genshin Impact manga, and is a popular design among fans.

Those who have pulled Cyno and hope to ascend him and upgrade his talents will need the right items and enough Mora. This guide will outline how much of everything is needed, as well as where to find it.

Cyno Anime

As an Electro Vision holder, Vajrada Amethyst is the elemental gem Cyno uses to ascend. Along with this purple gem, he'll need some Samachurl drops, a local specialty of the Sumeru desert, and a boss drop from Sumeru's Electro Regisvine.

Gemstones - Where to Find Vajrada Amethyst

Like all elemental gems, Vajrada Amethyst can be obtained from bosses, daily commission bonuses, the Parametric Transformer, and so on. The most efficient way to farm it is by defeating bosses who can drop it in their rewards. Those bosses include the following:

*Azhdaha and the Primo Geovishap can only drop Vajrada Amethyst when infused with Electro!

For a full breakdown of every possible way to farm Vajrada Amethyst, check out our comprehensive guide:

Enemy Drop - Where to Find Samachurl Scrolls

There is no shortage of Samachurls dotted around Teyvat. This is great for anyone hoping to ascend Cyno, as he needs their drops to ascend. At higher levels, Samachurls are capable of dropping higher-quality materials, as shown here:

  • Any level: Divining Scroll
  • Level 40+: Sealed Scroll
  • Level 60+: Forbidden Curse Scroll

Of course, higher-level Samachurl Scrolls can be crafted from lower-quality ones.

Boss Drop - How to Get Thunderclap Fruitcore

A third Regisvine was finally added after Mondstadt's and Liyue's Cryo and Pyro Regisvines. Sumeru's Mawtiyima Forest is home to the Electro Regisvine, which drops Thunderclap Fruitcore when defeated. This item is used in Cyno's ascension!

Local Specialty - Where to Find Scarabs

Unfortunately, anyone who planned to prefarm Cyno ascension materials could not get their hands on absolutely everything, because Scarabs were not released until Cyno himself was in the Genshin Impact 3.1 update. These Scarabs are one of Sumeru's local specialties, and can only be found in the region's desert, not its rainforests.

Cyno will need a total of 168 Scarabs to completely ascend, so players will need to head to the sandy desert to find them.

Talent Books - Admonition

The talent series used in Cyno's talent upgrades is Admonition. The Admonition series can be obtained by clearing the Steeple of Ignorance domain on Monday, Thursday, or Sunday.

Trounce Materials - Mudra of the Malefic General

Cyno's talents require a trounce material from Inazuma. Players will need to defeat the Shogun in the End of the Oneiric Euthymia weekly domain and pay the Resin cost for her rewards, which can include the Mudra of the Malefic General item.
