Summary
- According to beta testing, Dahlia in Genshin Impact struggles with energy generation and has limited ability kit diversity.
- Dahlia's weak Elemental Skill and Burst require external energy sources.
- Fans expressed disappointment with Dahlia's potential lack of value in comparison to existing characters.
Beta testing is looking rough for Dahlia in Genshin Impact, as the upcoming 4-Star Hydro character will have a costly Elemental Burst with very little means of generating energy. As details about the new patch continue to emerge, one thing that has grabbed the attention of Genshin Impact players is the gameplay of Skirk and Dahlia, the two upcoming characters of Version 5.7. Whereas Skirk is living up to her potential, especially when it comes to combat animations, players have already expressed concern about Dahlia and his ability kit.
Dahlia in Genshin Impact provides buffs to attack speed and has a Hydro Shield that refreshes itself over the course of its duration. Unfortunately, his passive talent restricts him to Freeze teams, and his Hydro application is nonexistent. To add insult to injury, his exploration ability barely launches players up into the air – seemingly intended to only provide them with a free Plunging Attack, but little else. It's safe to say that fans haven't been too thrilled with Dahlia's ability kit, especially since he is only the second 4-Star Hydro character since Version 1.0.
Genshin Impact Adds Age Verification Due To Lawsuit Settlement
Genshin Impact players from America will need to verify their age, but will also get to enjoy many customer-friendly improvements to the game's gacha.
According to Uncle Balls, Dahlia will only regenerate 3 Elemental Particles with his Elemental Skill and only if enemies trigger the trap that he leaves behind. Given that his Elemental Burst costs 60 Energy, and only provides a 12-second Shield on a 15-second cooldown, Dahlia will likely depend on other characters to generate particles for him to even maintain partial uptime. Unfortunately, with all these factors, there's not much value in having Dahlia on the team over someone like Mika, who provides more attack speed and has synergy with Furina in Genshin Impact due to being a group healer.
Genshin Impact Players May Want to Temper Their Expectations About Dahlia
It's no secret that HoYoverse considers Hydro to be a premium element in Genshin Impact. As such, the developers may want to keep new 4-Star Hydro characters at a low power level, as Xingqiu has consistently proven his value for nearly five years. However, the community feels that there hasn't been a 4-Star character with such a puzzling ability kit in a long time. While the numbers can always change during the beta, first impressions have been lukewarm even in the most polite corners.
In order to make Dahlia a viable teammate, players believe that HoYoverse would need to either increase his Hydro application or upgrade his Shield and attack speed buff. The latter would make him a powerful teammate for Wanderer's team in Genshin Impact, potentially offering an alternative to Mika. Given how much the developers are hesitant to release good Hydro applicators after Furina, the second option is a far more likely scenario. Version 5.7 is expected to launch on June 18, 2025.
