The Secret Source Automaton is a new enemy which has been introduced to Genshin Impact’s Version 5.0. The enemies are exclusive to Natlan’s territory and quite a formidable challenge. Players looking to farm these enemies will need to be careful when fighting them.
Aside from their toughness, they also drop valuable materials players might need when it comes to leveling up weapons and characters. Unfortunately, there are not many of them around the region, so players will need to continuously farm them if they wish to collect enough materials. Presently, there are only seven Secret Source Automatons in Natlan, so hopefully, the game will add more in the future.

Secret Source Automaton Locations - Genshin Impact
Sulfurous Veins
The good thing about these mecha enemies is that they are nowhere near civilization. The first batch of automatons can be found on the cliff behind the Sulfurous Veins. You can use the teleport waypoint far north of the area and go right to find the first automaton on the route.
After you’re done with that, turn around and head east on the map to find the remaining two near a clearing with a Precious Chest in the middle of them.
Stadium of the Sacred Flame
You can use the teleport waypoint at the stadium itself and glide to the cliffs behind it from there. You’ll be able to spot the automaton in the area located above.
Ameyalco Waters
Once players have unlocked the area governed by the “People of the Springs”, head to the Statue of Seven at Ameyalco Waters and head south on the map to find the automatons near the sand. The final Secret Source Automaton is located underneath some ruins in Ameyalco Waters. Players will need to glide down into the ruins in front of the Statue of Seven and follow the spiritwave to the bottom. This area is part of a quest called Tracer No Tracing.

How To Defeat The Secret Source Automaton in Genshin Impact
The Secret Source Automaton is a pretty difficult enemy to defeat as it has resistance to all types of elemental damage. Players should be especially wary of its laser attack which deals a massive amount of damage and can easily injure your characters. It seems that the only way to create an opening is by using the characters' Nightsoul abilities.
When characters use their Nightsoul abilities, the Secret Source Automaton uses that opportunity to charge up a higher laser attack. Once it releases the laser attack, it loses all of its increased resistance and creates an opening for players to attack. Since Nightsoul abilities are only exclusive to Natlan characters, players can use their free Kachina in moments like these. If they prefer not to, it is advisable to take a good healer and shielder to help you last through the fight.
