In Genshin Impact, the general of the Watatsumi resistance army is also a young man blessed with a Geo Vision. Gorou is a Geo bow user who plays an important role in the Inazuman storyline, and can be a great support character for many teams.
Anyone hoping to ascend this canine warrior will need the right items and Mora. The same holds true for upgrading his talents, too. Here's everything needed to level up and ascend Gorou, and how to find all of it!
Leveling Materials
Gorou needs to ascend at certain levels, just like every Genshin Impact character. Here's how much EXP and Mora is needed between each ascension level:

Where to Find All of Gorou's Ascension and Talent Materials
Gemstones - Where to Find Prithiva Topaz
All Geo characters use this elemental gem, and it can be found a few ways. Souvenir shops, the Parametric Transformer, and the Adventurers' Guild's daily commissions are all sources of every elemental gem, but most of them will come from defeating bosses.
These bosses, in particular, are capable of dropping Prithiva Topaz:
- Geo Hypostasis
- Ruin Serpent
- Golden Wolflord
- Perpetual Mechanical Array
- Primo Geovishap
- Experimental Field Generator
- Legatus Golem
- Andrius (The Wolf of the North Challenge)
- Azhdaha (Beneath the Dragon Queller)
For a full guide on obtaining Prithiva Topaz, check this guide:
Genshin Impact: Where To Get Prithiva Topaz
Every Geo character in Genshin Impact needs some Prithiva Topaz to ascend, and this guide will show how to get it.
Enemy Drop - Where to Find Spectral Husk, Spectral Heart, Spectral Nucleus
Specters are some of the most annoying common enemies in the game, but players will need to fight them if they want to level up Gorou without spending Stardust. These enemies are primarily found on Watatsumi Island, Seirai Island, and in Enkanomiya.
Like other common enemies, Specters can drop different materials depending on their level.
- Any level Specter can drop Spectral Husks
- Specters level 40 and up can drop Spectral Hearts
- Specters level 60 and up can drop Spectral Nuclei
Genshin Impact: Specter Locations
Players need to farm Specter drops as character and weapon ascension materials, and materials for talent level-up.
Boss Drop - How to Get Perpetual Heart
Gorou is one of a couple of characters that uses the unique boss drop of the Perpetual Mechanical Array — the Perpetual Heart. This boss can be found in Inazuma.
Initially, this boss can be a bit tricky to access, but there are two ways to do this. The first is to step through a portal found on Jinren Island, but a more convenient, long-term method is to finish the portion of the Cleansing Defilement quest that takes place on Araumi. Doing this permanently unlocks a teleport waypoint right near the boss.
Genshin Impact: How To Find And Defeat The Maguu Kenki
Maguu Kenki is one of the most mysterious of Genshin Impact's many bosses — a silent samurai automaton that battles anyone who comes near.
Local Specialty - Where to Find Sango Pearl
This local specialty is exclusive to Inazuma, but is only found in two places: Watatsumi Island and Enkanomiya. These Pearls appear in little flower nests near bodies of water. Some hotspots include the Serpent's Bowels area and near Suigetsu Pool.
Anyone having difficulty finding enough Sango Pearls to ascend Gorou (or both him and Kokomi, since they both need them), should head over to Ritou and find Yamashiro Kenta. He sells five Sango Pearls for 1,000 Mora each. Luckily, he restocks every three day. Unluckily, he's only available after finishing the second act, Transient Dreams, of the Raiden Shogun's Story Quest.
Genshin Impact: Sango Pearl Locations
Sango Pearl is used for character ascension in Genshin Impact and Travelers can locate them in Inazuma.
Talent Books - Light
The talent series Gorou uses is the Light series. These can be obtained by clearing the Violet Court domain on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Genshin Impact: Every Domain Schedule
Knowing the schedule for some of Genshin Impact's Domains can help players collect certain items relatively painlessly.
Trounce Materials - Molten Moment
Gorou's job is in direct opposition to a policy the Fatui orchestrated. How fitting, then, that he needs an item obtained by defeating a Fatui Harbinger? To earn the Molten Moments Gorou uses in his talent upgrades, the player needs to defeat La Signora at her weekly trounce domain.
Genshin Impact: How To Defeat La Signora
Genshin Impact's challenging La Signora wields both the power of Cryo and Pyro and requires a few special tricks to defeat successfully.
