Kokomi has been part of the game since the Inazuma arc and was officially released in the second part of Version 2.1, the same update that introduced the Inazuma Archon, Raiden Shogun. According to the official lore, Kokomi is the Divine Priestess of Watatsumi Island and a descendant of the renowned Sangonomiya Clan.

An interesting Genshin Impact chart ranks the playable characters by their usage rate in the current Spiral Abyss for update 5.6.
A Reddit user named Menulia has shared an impressive artwork that depicts what Genshin Impact's five-star Kokomi might look like as a divine dragon. The dragon features lavender and pearl-blue scales, which mirror Kokomi's in-game color scheme. In terms of dragon types, Kokomi’s new form could fit the Water Dragon archetype, which makes sense given her ties to the sea. The post gained significant attention on the official Genshin Impact subreddit, gathering over 1,000 upvotes. The artist revealed that they drew Kokomi as a sort of ritual to improve their chances of acquiring this five-star character, as HoYoverse confirmed she will appear on the Chronicled Banner. The post also includes a previous dragon concept for Kokomi, created by the artist back in 2021, with many comments noting that the new version is a major improvement.
Genshin Impact's Kokomi Transformed Into a Dragon
Menulia revealed that the ritual has worked for her in the past, with the most recent success being the acquisition of Genshin Impact's Geo user Navia. Many fans were excited about the return of the Chronicled Banner, as it is HoYoverse's method of featuring five-star characters who have not appeared on the limited banner for a long time. With the pool of playable characters constantly expanding, many of them often go years without a rerun on the limited banner.
While many players hoped that HoYoverse would introduce a triple-banner mechanic instead of the current double-banner system to address this issue, it seems that the Chronicled Banner will become a standard feature, at least for the foreseeable future. Currently, Kokomi is one of the most anticipated characters, especially among long-time players. However, that wasn’t the case when she was first released, particularly since her debut followed the release of Genshin Impact's Inazuma Archon.
Fortunately, the introduction of new Dendro elemental reactions has significantly improved her combat effectiveness, as she is now considered one of the best Bloom characters in Genshin Impact. Players who want to add Kokomi to their roster will need to wait for Phase 2 of the current update, which is scheduled to arrive on May 27.
