This year’s Lantern Rite Festival will primarily consist of three main event mini-games, though there will also be several additional festivities taking place in Liyue Harbor. Between several event-exclusive rewards like Xiangling’s new character outfit in Genshin Impact and several common rewards like Primogems and character upgrade materials, this will be a highly rewarding event with several memorable festivities that players won’t want to miss.

Genshin Impact’s Lantern Rite Festival 2025 Event Start and End Date
For now, there’s no official date for when the 2025 Lantern Rite Festival will start and how long it will be available. However, it’s widely believed that this event will start when Phase two of Genshin Impact’s 5.3 update begins on January 21, and it’s also estimated that the event will run for the remainder of the 5.3 update.

The Immortal Combat event mini-game has been described by the community as being similar to Puyo Puyo games, where players will complete a matching puzzle game while competing against an AI opponent. Drills By Lamplight is a typical combat-oriented mini-game where players will face waves of enemies, and completing specific challenges during combat will grant players additional score points. Lastly, Custom Gift Envelope is a mini-game where players will be able to create personalized decorations for some of the playable characters in Genshin Impact.
Outside of these three main event mini-games, there will also be other festivities and quests available during the Lantern Rite Festival 2025. So far, it’s been revealed that there will also be: a unique questline for the Lantern Rite Festival this year, firework launch tubes and collectible Fortune Coins scattered around Liyue Harbor, and an opera performance by Yun Jin.

Players can earn several rewards throughout the Lantern Rite Festival 2025, from unique event-exclusive items to common rewards like Primogems and various upgrade materials in Genshin Impact. Some of the rewards throughout the Lantern Rite Festival will be limited to daily login rewards, while others will be available as players progress throughout the event’s questline and mini-games, so waiting until the final days of the Event’s duration might mean that players will miss out on certain rewards.
Granny Shan, the toy seller in Liyue Harbor, will sell several event-exclusive items during the Lantern Rite Festival 2025, including Xiao Lanterns, the Floral Zither instrument Gadget, the firework Launch Tube Gadget, and consumable fireworks.

Players will be able to claim one free four-star character from the Liyue region during the Lantern Rite Festival 2025. This year’s selection of free characters in the Lantern-Lit Gathering notably includes Lan Yan, a new four-star Anemo Catalyst character who will also be available in the 5.3 update Phase two Event Wish Banners, and Xiangling, who players will be able to earn a free new outfit for during the Lantern Rite Festival 2025.
