Durin has served as one of Genshin Impact's longest-rumored characters, with implications in the in-game lore dating back to the RPG's early days. Durin was first teased in-game during the release of Dragonspine in Version 1.2 with the fearsome dragon said to have died south of Mondstadt, becoming the mountain featured in the game. A new version of Durin was later created within the Simulanka by Hexenzirkel member Andersdotter during Version 4.8's Summertide Scales and Tales event, confirmed to feature a human form in Nod-Krai. Leaks are now giving an idea of how Durin will play in Genshin Impact.

A recent leak shared via leakers Kokomi, HomDGCat, and Seele is hinting at the gameplay for Durin's release in Version 6.2. According to the post, Durin will act similarly to a Pyro version of Escoffier, with off-field Pyro application and RES shred as a major part of his kit. Durin will also provide special buffs when other Hexenzirkel members are in the team, reducing enemies' RES when hit with Pyro Elemental Reactions while paired with other Hexenzirkel characters. The post even includes some pre-existing characters who count towards the requirement, including Albedo, Mona, Venti, and Klee.
