According to recent information from the Genshin Impact beta, Version 5.5 will award players a free copy of Ororon for participating in its Flagship Event. While Genshin Impact encourages players to spend their Primogems on the Event Banner, every other patch awards them a free 4-Star character simply by completing its limited-time activities. Most recently, Candace was awarded to players in Version 5.1, while Version 5.3 allowed them to choose a Liyue 4-Star during the Lantern Rite.
Despite making her debut in Version 5.5, Iansan will not be the free character of Version 5.5, and Genshin Impact players will need to summon her the old-fashioned way. Iansan's ability kit in Genshin Impact touts her as a promising Support character, capable of buffing the ATK of her party members to a standard not seen since Bennett. While it remains to be seen if Iansan will live up to her potential, the excitement from the Genshin Impact community is palpable.
Genshin Impact Leaks Banner Characters for Version 5.5
Recent datamining efforts reveal which 5-Star characters in Genshin Impact will get their rerun in Version 5.5, with one of them being a surprise.
As explained by Seele Leaks, the free 4-Star for Version 5.5 is going to be Ororon. Ororon in Genshin Impact is considered a strong 4-Star character, capable of outperforming Fischl in his Electro-Charged niche. On top of having exploration abilities that mimic Iktomisaurs, Ororon is a character that becomes insanely valuable with C6 by being able to provide a 30% ATK increase via triggering Hypersense. As such, most Genshin Impact players will likely be happy to receive a free copy of Ororon in Version 5.5.
Genshin Impact: Players Could Be Getting a Free Ororon in Version 5.5
Ororon is best used in the Electro-Charged and Hyperbloom teams in Genshin Impact, especially with hypercarries such as Neuvillette, Alhaitham, or Chasca. The latter shared a banner with Ororon in Version 5.2, and as such, it's unlikely that Ororon will re-run in Version 5.5. Current data reveals that Version 5.5 will feature Xilonen, Xianyun, and Varesa on the Event Banners, with the last spot likely reserved for Venti. A possible place for Ororon would be alongside Ifa, who is set to debut in Version 5.6 or Version 5.7, especially if Chasca has her banner at the same time.
From a popularity standpoint, Ororon has certainly established himself as one of the best characters to come out of Natlan, as many players found his dynamic with Citlali endearing. While he had time to shine in the Archon Quest, not a lot of players would object if HoYoverse added a new Hangout to Genshin Impact featuring Ororon. Version 5.5 is set to launch on March 26, 2025.
