A new leak from Genshin Impact is hinting at the upcoming release of one of the game's most highly-anticipated annual events, teasing the window for the Lantern Rite. The massively popular RPG from HoYoverse typically features a variety of new Genshin Impact events with every update to the game, offering plenty of exclusive rewards and Primogems for players to acquire. Each patch typically includes one major event throughout its run, alongside numerous smaller combat and exploration-focused challenges. Now, one of the HoYoverse RPG's most popular events is set to make a comeback.
The Lantern Rite is one of the biggest recurring events for Genshin Impact's annual calendar, featuring a large-scale event and plenty of new content. The yearly events see players returning to Liyue for the festival, typically bringing multiple new characters from the China-themed region to the roster. HoYoverse has also often featured new skins as part of its Lantern Rite events, with 2024's Lantern Rite adding skins for Ganyu and Shenhe. The next iteration of the event is now said to be on the way, arriving a bit earlier than last year's event.
Genshin Impact Leak Teases Next Lantern Rite
A recent update shared by prominent Genshin Impact leaker hxg_diluc is teasing the release of Genshin Impact's next Lantern Rite event. According to the post, Genshin Impact will debut its Natlan cycle Lantern Rite during the Version 5.3 update, coming slightly earlier than previous events held in each region's ".4" patches. The leak also hints at one notable exclusion from the event's roster, with the heavily-rumored Madame Ping said to not be releasing in Version 5.3. Genshin Impact's Version 5.3 is currently expected to launch in early January.
While details about HoYoverse's newest Lantern Rite have not been revealed as of yet, the update follows in a recent trend of mid-region updates to Liyue. Version 4.4 in January saw not only this year's Lantern Rite, but also brought with it the long-rumored addition of Chenyu Vale to the in-game map. HoYoverse has also previously made additions to Liyue's map unrelated to the annual event, adding The Chasm alongside a major story expansion during the Version 2.6 update in 2022.
With Lantern Rite sure to excite plenty of fans, Genshin Impact has already hit the ground running with the game's new region. The launch of Natlan features several departures from previous locales within Genshin Impact, including different Reputation levels for each of Natlan's tribes. The region also introduces a major game mechanic within its explorable area and playable characters, with "Nightsoul Blessing" used both for party members and Natlan's "Saurian" mounts. The arrival of the Lantern Rite will likely bring new characters, skins, and plenty more to the RPG with its arrival in January.
