According to early datamining for Version 5.8, Genshin Impact is introducing a new Elemental Reaction called Lunar Electro-Charged, seemingly tied to Nod-Krai and its overarching combat mechanic. While Genshin Impact has been reluctant to add new Elemental Reactions since Sumeru, the developers have been testing the waters with Rimegrass in Version 5.6 – currently limited to just the Imaginarium Theater.
Unlike Rimegrass, Version 5.8 is intended to add a new Elemental Reaction across all gameplay by tying it to the upcoming 5-Star character. An Electro Polearm wielder from Nod-Krai, the new 5-Star is expected to have an ability kit that elevates Electro-Charged teams to new heights, opening up the playstyle of older Genshin Impact characters like Cyno. Her gameplay has been compared to Fischl and Emilie, but in terms of what she brings to the table, she's much closer to a less restrictive Nilou.
Genshin Impact Leaks Ability Kit for Version 5.8 Character
A recent Genshin Impact leak shares exciting details about the ability kit of the upcoming 5-Star Electro character from Nod-Krai in Version 5.8.
As revealed by Seele Leaks, the new Elemental Reaction in Genshin Impact is called Lunar Electro-Charged. It replaces the regular Electro-Charged as long as the new 5-Star is in the party. What separates Lunar Electro-Charged from the original reaction is that it spawns a Thundercloud above an enemy that continuously strikes nearby enemies who are affected by Electro or Hydro. Unlike the regular Electro-Charged, this damage scales off of all characters who played a part in the reaction. Most notably, it can also trigger critical hits.
Genshin Impact Could Add More Lunar Elemental Reactions in Nod-Krai
While it remains to be seen if Lunar Electro-Charged will be compatible with characters like Ifa and Ororon, the Thundering Fury Artifact Set has been updated to accommodate the new Elemental Reaction. Moreover, players will be able to obtain a free 4-Star Claymore in Version 5.8 that specifically works with Electro-Charged, Lunar Electro-Charged, and Bloom reactions. This could potentially pave the way for a new era for Hyperbloom teams in Genshin Impact.
In terms of UI, Lunar Electro-Charged will seemingly be displayed as a gradient of purple and white, with the font itself being italicized. It's safe to assume that future Nod-Krai reactions will follow the same design, as it's unlikely that HoYoverse will stop at Lunar Electro-Charged. Given that many Elemental Reactions are lackluster in the current meta (Superconduct being the most notable example), Nod-Krai in Genshin Impact could be a way for the developers to update, improve, and establish new niches using the game's ever-growing roster of characters. Version 5.8 is set to launch on July 30, 2025.
