Genshin Impact has officially announced Mavuika's playable release, with her first banner expected to launch in Version 5.3. Though several leaks about the Pyro Archon's availability have surfaced online, Genshin Impact fans have been waiting for an official confirmation from HoYoverse.
Historically, two days before every Genshin Impact update, HoYoverse has released promotional images for new characters debuting in the next patch. Earlier in November, players counted on this tradition and hoped for Mavuika's playable announcement. Although previous Genshin Impact leaks about Mavuika supported theories of her becoming playable in Version 5.3, HoYoverse seemingly delayed Mavuika's drip marketing, leaving players waiting with anticipation. Now, HoYoverse has finally confirmed the Pyro Archon's playability.
Through an official promotional image, Genshin Impact has revealed Mavuika as a playable character. Her announcement would mean that she'll join Genshin Impact's roster during the first half of Version 5.3, which is set to launch on January 1, 2025. Mavuika's character description reveals that her Constellation is called Sol Invictus and she receives the title of Night-Igniting Flame. As expected, she carries the Pyro Gnosis instead of a Vision. Earlier Genshin Impact reports about Mavuika's ability kit suggested her as the next best Pyro support in the game, making her one of the most anticipated units from Natlan.
Genshin Impact Officially Reveals Mavuika's Playable Release
Mavuika's official promotional image also confirms rumors of her being able to ride a motorcycle. The Pyro Archon is rumored to have incredible exploration abilities on her motorbike, including climbing, flying, and riding over water. Mavuika's signature weapon in Genshin Impact is expected to be a Claymore, making her the fourth Pyro unit with this weapon.
Another surprising detail in Mavuika's reveal is the mention of Varka, Alice, and Barbeloth in her description. These three names are some of the most prominent unreleased characters in Genshin Impact lore. Varka is the Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius of Mondstadt, and Mavuika's introduction confirms that they have crossed paths before. While talking to Klee's mother, Alice, Varka explains that he and Mavuika competed with each other in the Stadium of the Sacred Flame, but he doesn't remember clearly who won. At the same time, Barbeloth, known as B, is a member of the Hexenzirkel and Mona's master. Barbeloth seemingly performs a divination about Mavuika and addresses how the Pyro Archon exposed the fake sky in Natlan's battle against the Abyss. Barbeloth's prediction hints that she has her eyes set on Mavuika's future actions.
HoYoverse's reasons for delaying Mavuika's playable announcement remain unclear, but Genshin Impact fans will be glad to know that she is coming to the game in the next update. Mavuika's banner is arguably what players are most looking forward to in Version 5.3, but the patch might have even more important events coming. Genshin Impact's next Lantern Rite is rumored to arrive in Version 5.3 as well, along with a new 4-star Liyue character.
