Mika, the much-anticipated Cryo user from Mondstadt, is finally at players' disposal following the launch of version 3.5 in Genshin Impact. First revealed in the special event "Of Ballads and Brews" during Version 3.1, Mika is a member of the Knights of Favonius and joined Grand Master Varka on his expedition. As a physical support and healer character, Mika will particularly complement Eula and Razor's teams perfectly. While he can be seen utilizing a crossbow and holding a book, he is actually a polearm user. With his Cryo vision and polearm expertise, Mika offers outstanding off-field support and healing through his prolonged skill durations and powerful buffs.
Due to his support role, Mika is relatively straightforward to build, similar to other healer and support characters such as Yaoyao or Kuki Shinobu in Genshin Impact. He primarily scales with HP, so choosing the right polearm can be challenging as there are limited options for the HP secondary stat. To optimize Mika's potential, players can opt for 4-star weapons that focus on Energy Recharge, such as the Catch, Favonius Lance, and Prototype Starglitter, as they are mostly F2P friendly.
Updated on August 16, 2023, by Elara Leclair: With the release of the Fontaine region in Genshin Impact's 4.0 version update, players now have access to new gameplay mechanics, an entirely new area to explore, new characters, and more. Another significant addition is the inclusion of newly added Battle Pass weapons, along with new craftable weapons, enabling players to optimize certain character builds. One character reaping the benefits is Mika, owing to the introduction of the first 4-star HP-scaling polearm in the game. This offers players a highly suitable F2P option for this character, should they choose to utilize it.
8 Staff of Homa
- Primary Stat: 608 Base ATK
- Secondary Stat: 66.2% CRIT DMG
- R1 Effect: HP increased by 20%. Additionally, provides an ATK Bonus based on 0.8% of the wielder's Max HP. When the wielder's HP is less than 50%, this ATK Bonus is increased by an additional 1% of Max HP.
Staff of Homa is renowned as one of the top polearms for characters that rely on HP scaling in Genshin Impact. While it's primarily used for DPS, it could be a great choice for Mika if players aim to increase their damage and healing ability.
Generally, this weapon may not be the best option for Mika, as characters like Xiao, Hutao, and Zhongli can better utilize it. Nevertheless, if players have a spare, it could be worth experimenting with for the sheer fun of it.
7 Black Tassel
- Primary Stat: 354 Base ATK
- Secondary Stat: 46.9% HP
- R1 Effect: Increases DMG against slimes by 40%.
Black Tassel is the top pick for players who want to enhance Mika's healing capabilities, as it is the only polearm with HP% scaling on its secondary stat. Despite the lack of any team utility from its passive stat, it's a great option for players who are just starting out and may not have access to other weapons. Although its use may be limited, Black Tassel is still a solid choice even as a 3-star weapon for players who are striving to maximize Mika's HP. Nevertheless, players should keep in mind that Mika's healing comes from his Elemental Burst, and while this weapon may be able to boost HP, Mika might then lack Energy Recharge to activate the Burst consistently if not built right.
6 Skyward Spine
- Primary Stat: 674 Base ATK
- Secondary Stat: 36.8% Energy Recharge
- R1 Effect: Increases CRIT Rate by 8% and increases Normal ATK SPD by 12%. Additionally, Normal and Charged Attacks hits on opponents have a 50% chance to trigger a vacuum blade that deals 40% of ATK as DMG in a small AoE. This effect can occur no more than once every 2s.
Energy Recharge will be crucial for being able to utilize Mika's healing potential and some additional benefits that come with the passive abilities and constellations.
Although the passive effect of Skyward Spine may not be fully utilized by Mika due to his off-field support role, it is still a viable option for players who already have the weapon and are using other Energy Recharge polearms for other characters. However, as a 5-star option that offers less Energy Recharge compared to some free-to-play viable 4-star weapons, Skyward Spine may not be the top choice for Mika.
5 Prototype Starglitter
- Primary Stat: 510 Base ATK
- Secondary Stat: 45.9% Energy Recharge
- R1 Effect: After using an Elemental Skill, increases Normal and Charged Attack DMG by 8% for 12s. Max 2 stacks.
Prototype Starglitter is a prime selection for players seeking a free-to-play craftable weapon. With one of the highest Energy Recharge stats after Engulfing Lightning, this weapon is helpful for a consistent Burst uptime.
Despite the passive effect not being utilizable by Mika, the Prototype Starglitter still presents a valuable choice for maximizing Mika's potential while being quite cost-effective.
4 The Catch
- Primary Stat: 510 Base ATK
- Secondary Stat: 45.9% Energy Recharge
- R1 Effect: Increases Elemental Burst DMG by 16% and Elemental Burst CRIT Rate by 6%.
The Catch is a powerful weapon for even Raiden Shogun, the Almighty, being the top 4-star choice for her. It can be used on Mika too, having the same primary and secondary stats as Prototype Starglitter. However, the passive of Catch is not so significant for Mika, similar to Prototype Starglitter.
Furthermore, it's a free-to-play friendly purchasable weapon, with its materials acquired through fishing. Ultimately, players can choose between these two weapons based on their personal preference and the availability of the necessary materials.
3 Favonius Lance (R5)
- Primary Stat: 565 Base ATK
- Secondary Stat: 30.6% Energy Recharge
- R5 Effect: CRIT Hits have a 100% chance to generate a small amount of Elemental Particles, which will regenerate 6 Energy for the character. Can only occur once every 6s.
Favonius Lance is a top-notch weapon for many support characters, particularly Mika, with its high Energy Recharge and particle generation. Although it has a slightly lower Energy Recharge compared to other polearm options, its passive effect more than makes up for it, providing consistent access to Mika's Burst, as well as reliable battery support with Crit hits.
As Mika is a Cryo user, combining him with other viable Cryo users such as Eula or even Kaeya unlocks the Cryo resonance, offering even more opportunities for the passive effect to activate with the added Crit rate. Overall, Favonius Lance is the best 4-star weapon for Mika. Despite being gacha-based, it should still be readily available for most players as it is a standard banner weapon.
2 Engulfing Lightning
- Primary Stat: 608 Base ATK
- Secondary Stat: 55.1% Energy Recharge
- R1 Effect: ATK increased by 28% of Energy Recharge over the base 100%. You can gain a maximum bonus of 80% ATK. Gain 30% Energy Recharge for 12s after using an Elemental Burst.
Engulfing Lightning is the ultimate 5-star weapon choice for Mika, offering the highest Energy Recharge secondary stat in the game. Its passive effect can also enhance Mika's performance, as it boosts his Energy Recharge after using his Burst, complementing well with his fourth constellation.
However, it's important to note that as Engulfing Lightning is a 5-star weapon that is only available through limited banners, it is a more substantial investment compared to other options. Moreover, it might be better suited for characters like Raiden Shogun. Nevertheless, if players already have one not being utilized, it's the ideal choice for Mika.
1 Rightful Reward (R5)
- Primary Stat: 565 Base ATK
- Secondary Stat: 27.5% HP
- R5 Effect: When the wielder is healed, restore 16 Energy. This effect can be triggered once every 10s, and can occur even when the character is not on the field.
One of the new craftable weapons from the Fontaine region, Rightful Reward, stands out as the best weapon option for Mika while also being an easily obtainable F2P weapon. This weapon not only aids Mika by further scaling his HP, but it also facilitates the restoration of a significant amount of energy. This aspect greatly enhances his Elemental Burst uptime. Fortunately, while this effect requires the wielder to be healed for activation, it aligns well with Mika's abilities. His Elemental Burst, upon release, heals all team members. Consequently, each time Mika heals or unleashes his Elemental Burst, he can restore some energy, making this an excellent option for him.
Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
