Genshin Impact has revealed more information about a new subregion that will arrive in the game in the upcoming Version 5.2. Genshin Impact's world, also known as the Teyvat continent, consists of seven major regions. So far, HoYoverse has introduced six of them, with Natlan being the most recent addition, arriving in update 5.0.
When a new major nation arrives, Genshin Impact often expands it by adding smaller subregions that usually share the same characteristics as the main region. The most recent Special Program livestream event revealed a wealth of new information about the next update, including a new map expansion.
Genshin Impact's recent post on HoYoLAB has provided many details about this new region, including some concept art and in-game screenshots. The new region is named Ochkanatlan, also known as The Fabled Forbidden Ground. It has been described as an ancient city shrouded in a sea of fog, where a great dragon lurks in the depths. The post also revealed that the new region is corrupted by the powers of the Abyss, one of the main antagonist factions in Genshin Impact. Besides the "great dragon," players will also encounter other dragons that likely have a lower enemy rank.
Genshin Impact Teases High-Flying Exploration and a Legendary Dragon in Update 5.2
It seems that the depths of the ancient city are not the only parts of Ochkanatlan that players will explore. According to legend, a secret is hidden in the skies above the city, and one of the screenshots shows that players will be able to fly high above it. Many comments speculate on the identity of this great dragon, and some fans hope that it's the Pyro Dragon, also known as one of Genshin Impact's Seven Sovereigns.
It would not be surprising if the great dragon is connected to one of the Seven Sovereigns, considering that the previous Archon Chapter introduced Neuvillette, a reincarnation of the Hydro Dragon. Some fans have noted that they would not mind if HoYoverse introduced a similar Pyro version of Neuvillette to the roster, especially considering that he's widely regarded as the most powerful Hydro DPS unit in Genshin Impact.
In fact, Neuvillette may make an in-game appearance in the coming months, as HoYoverse has confirmed that he will be featured on the Phase 2 banner in Genshin Impact Version 5.2. The first part of the update will feature two new playable units: the new five-star Anemo DPS Chasca and the four-star support Ororon, both expected to arrive on November 20.
