Genshin Impact has a very frequent update schedule which has helped the game evolve and kept the content fresh. Besides adding new characters, updates often bring new enemy types which are often not well received in the community.
Even though the majority of Genshin Impact's content is fairly easy to beat by leveling up properly, players can struggle in certain boss fights or high-level domains. Spiral Abyss is probably the only part of the game players struggle in as it requires multiple characters to have maxed out stats in order to benefit from the different bonuses each floor of the Abyss grants.
A recent post on the official Genshin Impact subreddit has caught the attention of many players who've voiced their opinions about the new enemies that arrive with each update. Since the introduction of the Inazuma islands in Genshin impact Version 2.0, the Spyral Abyss has been increasingly stronger with each new update. The Abyss floors from update 1.0 to 1.6 had a fairly constant level of difficulty with enemies that had "fair" interactions. Increasing the difficulty ceiling does not seem to be the main problem as many players even prefer it, but making the current content much harder compared to the rest of the game seems unnatural.
One of the main problems is the new types of opponents, especially the new Rifthound enemies which, according to the comment section, are one of the worst additions miHoYo has ever made to the game. Those become almost impossible to beat if the player's party is melee-heavy which most team compositions are considering that there are only two ranged weapon types in the game. The random jumps they make often lead to missing an important Elemental Burst, which is one of the worst feelings in the game.
However, not everything is doom and gloom as most players claim that there are some good examples like the Maguu Kenki which were added back in update 2.4. Even though they have a massive HP bar, fighting them is actually fun and all one needs is a strong DPS composition in Genshin Impact, similar to the iconic Ruin Guards.
Constantly increasing the level of difficulty especially affects new Genshin Impact players considering that it was already hard enough to grind for late-game content wich multiple RNG factors like waiting for the perfect artifact roll. Assuming that this trend continues, it will be almost impossible to catch up to the difficulty, especially without strong Spiral Abyss characters like Venti or Zhongli.
Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
