Updated on April 11, 2025, by Aditi Jeyanathan: Friendship Levels in Genshin Impact are a side progression system that gives players the chance to grab some personalised name cards for their favourite characters. Friendship EXP can only be accumulated for the characters you own, and there are many ways by which you can do it. Aside from the namecards, players can also unlock character stories and voice-overs to listen to at a later date. There are 10 levels of Friendship to unlock, each one giving a different reward, with level 10 being the highest and awarding the namecard.

How To Raise Friendship Level In Genshin Impact
Raising the Friendship Level of your characters in Genshin Impact requires you to farm Companionship EXP. There are so many ways players can grab some Companionship EXP for their characters, and it’s not just limited to your world only. Here is the method by which you can do it:
- Daily Commissions - these give around 25-60 Companion EXP when you play through your commissions and claim rewards from Katheryne (45-100).
- Using Original Resin to claim rewards - whether it’s the ley line outcrops, world bosses, weekly bosses, or domain runs, using Original Resin to claim rewards gives you Companionship EXP
- Random Events - this depends on the event and how much it gives. Just remember, it’s always a good idea to complete events when they are released to grab that extra Companionship EXP.
- Serenitea Pot - by placing characters in the teapot, you can accumulate around 2-5 Companionship EXP per hour. This is based on your current Adeptal Energy and is the most passive way you can gain Friendship points.
- Playing Co-Op - not a lot of players may know this, but completing your daily tasks and challenges in co-op with friends doubles the amount of Companionship EXP you earn. This also means, if you let your Co-op teammates enter your world while you are in the midst of claiming Katheryne’s Daily Commissions rewards at the Adventure Rank guild, you can also gain double of that EXP too. You just need to time it well.
