Following a long maintenance period, Genshin Impact patch 5.8 is finally available across all platforms, with developer miHoYo introducing a bunch of content in the Sunspray Summer Resort update. On top of new content, Genshin Impact patch 5.8 brings a wealth of adjustments, optimizations, and bug fixes across almost every area of the game.
Genshin Impact’s free-to-play open-world experience has come a long way since its initial release in 2020, with miHoYo not only consistently improving the game but also rolling out new content. Genshin Impact’s live service approach means players are constantly treated to new stuff in the massively popular game. Although the game may not be everybody’s cup of tea, the RPG has been a smash hit, surpassing $99 million in revenue as of February 2025. But miHoYo's ambition is even bigger, as the developer’s goal is to create a gigantic virtual world that's "more real than reality," with a release window set for 2030. In the meantime, Genshin Impact continues evolving, and now the developer has brought yet another new patch to the RPG.
Genshin Impact Reveals New Weapons for Version 5.8
Genshin Impact is showing off a pair of brand-new weapons being added to the game as part of the upcoming Version 5.8 update.
From the quite extensive Sunspray Summer Resort update’s patch notes, one of the highlights is the addition of Genshin Impact’s new character Ineffa, one of the first Nod-Krai characters in the gacha title. Ineffa can turn Electro-Charged reactions into Lunar-Charged, and some of the best weapons to play with her are the Fractured Halo (which is a new 5-Star Polearm added in update 5.8), Calamity Queller, Vortex Vanquisher, and plenty of others. In addition to the Fractured Halo, the update has also added the Flame-Forged Insight, a 4-Star Claymore.
Players can now get two new Genshin Impact character skins: Adventures in Blazing Hue for Bennett and Tranquil Banquet for Yelan. Moreover, patch 5.8 introduced a new Archon Quest, a Story Quest, and five new World Quests. Players will now have the whole new Easybreeze Holiday Resort area to explore, alongside five new events to participate in, including the Sunspray Summer Resort event, where Travelers can try several different game modes.
The release of Genshin Impact’s update 5.8 also dropped a new Elemental Reaction (Lunar-Charged) which happens when Electro meets Hydro, creating a thundercloud that zaps nearby enemies with Electro damage. It can crit and scales based on all characters who contributed elements. The new monster Bakunawa has also been added, along with new Genius Invokation TCG cards, new recipes, achievements, and more. Last but not least, miHoYo rolled out a significant number of adjustments and bug fixes for enemies, quests, maps, items, characters, and much more. The patch is already live, so players should get it and try out everything new in the Sunspray Summer Resort update.
