Genshin Impact is so full of secret treasures, puzzles, areas, quests, and characters that it's almost impossible to tell if everything has been figured out at any given moment. Most secrets in the game are pretty trivial, and actually repeat themselves, so players can figure out their patterns. That said, some are genuinely worth finding and exploiting to help enhance weapons, develop characters, or just improve the exploration experience.
Learning to spot the patterns of the game and where the developers like to hide their secrets becomes easier with time as players get familiar with the game. The sheer size of the world means that there are countless nooks and crannies that may yield large rewards and even more that contain absolutely nothing in them. The fun of Genshin Impact comes from every moment in between.
Updated on October 28, 2022, by Nahda Nabiilah: Genshin Impact is filled with many forms of secrets. There are exploration secrets like some hidden Genshin Impact achievements, and there are some hidden lore that can only be found by those who pays close attention and read between each line. The game has been around for quite some time now, yet there are still countless mysteries that require further explanations. To dive into the spirit of the story, this article is updated to explore some of these hidden lore on top of hidden mechanics.
16 Power of Anemo
It's common knowledge that Anemo can spread Elements via the Swirl reaction when it reacts with an Element. However, what some Travelers may miss is the fact that Swirl can happen on self-inflicted Elements, so it can happen without enemy's presence.
For example, if players step in the water (and got affected by Hydro) and then use Anemo MC's Skill, the Skill will be imbued with Hydro. Other than that, if players use Venti's Burst and then enter the vortex while affected by an aura Element (Pyro/Electro/Hydro/Cryo), then Elemental Absorption will also occur.
15 Celestia
In the Genshin Impact manga, one of the first scene shown is Vennessa looking at Celestia with her sister. Celestia can be seen in the sky of Teyvat, and even in the live game, this sight is rather noticeable.
However, what's interesting is that the angle of Celestia changes based on where players are observing it from. Sometimes, it would tilt to one side, while other times, it's perfectly straight. In Version 3.0, for the first time, the position of Celestia is updated. This leads to people speculating the exact location of Celestia on the Teyvat map.
14 The Three Moon Sisters
The Moon in reality always switch through phases. Sometimes it's full, sometimes it's half-full, and sometimes it's a crescent. This concept is not shared in Teyvat, but it surprisingly hides a far deeper meaning behind it.
It is said that once upon a time, there are three moon sisters, Aria, Sonnet, and Canon. They switch places in the night sky regularly, which is how the moon would change phases a long time ago. However, a calamity overturns this order and the moon sisters eventually turn on each other, leading to their demise. It's said that the night sky is now decorated with one of the sister's corpse, never phasing again.
13 Mondstadt's Waterfall Chest
Not all players are familiar with the North of Mondstadt. After all, outside of the Anemo Hypostasis, there's very little reason to go into the Stormbearer Mountains. Nonetheless, many players missed one Genshin Impact secret exactly for this reason.
At the very northern part of the mountains, there exists a massive waterfall. At the very bottom, players will find a platform featuring a luxurious chest. Players will find this chest the easiest to acquire, requiring a simple glide downward.
12 Fantastic Four Achievement
In Genshin Impact, drawing good characters can be difficult due to the low supply of Primogems easily available to players on free-to-play accounts. One way to get good rewards like Primogems or enhancing materials is to complete achievements. The game doesn't tell the player about many secret achievements like the Fantastic Four.
To finish this achievement, simply complete any domain and complete the trial with a team of four characters with the same element. This can be difficult if the player hasn't been lucky with the gacha mechanic, but it's easy once they have four characters of the same element since the trials can be any level of difficulty.
11 Hidden Audio Achievement
Not all achievements in the game can be found via gameplay. Some Genshin Impact easter eggs reveal themselves through outside-of-the-box thinking. It's for this reason that many players haven't received the achievement called "...You could hear Paimon all along, couldn't you?"
For this Genshin Impact's secret audio achievement, the process of achieving this achievement is straightforward. Travelers simply need to access the game's audio settings and alternate the dialogue setting between low and high for a period of time. Eventually, Paimon's famous voice will grow irritated, and the achievement will reveal itself with 5 primogems.
10 Run Melos!
This is another secret achievement not mentioned in the game's achievement list that can be completed by anyone. The technical requirement for this achievement is to keep running for 15 seconds without stopping. It's difficult to run that long in the early game without unlocking more stamina, but there's a way around that.
To get this achievement, even at level 1, without upgrading the traveler too much, the player can dash until they reach the end of their stamina gauge, then jump. Jumping will carry the momentum of the dash without triggering the end of the dash animation. If done correctly, the player will get the achievement.
9 Gliding Achievements
Many Genshin Impact secrets reward players for exploring and traversing the world around them. One of the main ways of doing this is to glide from place to place since it's faster than running, consumes less stamina, and can help bypass enemies on the ground. Luckily there are many achievements for gliding and some of them are secrets.
The best way to get these secret achievements is to glide from Starsnatch Cliff to the island across the sea. Players can max out their stamina or use food to restore their stamina mid-flight, to make this glide possible. Once they land, they will receive the Golden Gliding License and the It's The Same As Having Wings achievement.
8 Hidden Island Chests
Speaking of the hidden island, it houses one more Genshin Impact secret that a lot of fans missed. In addition to the vast amount of lore hidden on the solitary isle, the hidden island hides several chests that aren't apparent from the get-go.
Most infamously, there is a luxurious chest located half-submerged in the back wall of the island. However, there exist two additional chests on the island: a common chest in the center of the ruin and an exquisite chest on the beach to the North. Finally, for players collecting
Anemoculus, there is one located on the tallest pillar.
7 Wangshu Inn Exquisite Chest
The Wangshu Inn is a large structure found in Liyue that towers above the water surrounding it like an architectural marvel. In the Inn, there are plenty of side quests, shops, and regular chests for the players to find, so exploring it is worth the time. On the outside of the inn is a chest that's extremely difficult to find without great luck.
The player will have to jump off the inn facing the southeast corner. After jumping, glide towards the water mill and swim under the building where it connects to the mill. Activate the cryo monument to reveal the chest under the inn.
