Genshin Impact has confirmed that Varka will make his first in-game appearance in Nod-Krai and revealed lore details about the region's main factions. Genshin Impact previously stated that Nod-Krai would be the next major area in players' journeys, as it would set the stage for Snezhnaya in the future.
Out of Teyvat's seven nations under an Archon, Snezhnaya is the only one left in the Traveler's quest. After the Natlan Archon Quest ended, players were expecting that Genshin Impact would follow its usual formula and transport them to the Cryo Nation in Version 6.0. However, HoYoverse announced that fans will first visit Nod-Krai, a subregion in southern Snezhnaya that welcomes people from all of Teyvat. The news disappointed some fans, but according to the developers, Genshin Impact's Nod-Krai chapter is supposed to fill important lore gaps in the game, and multiple characters will be involved.
Genshin Impact: Predicting Skirk's Role in the Current Meta

During its latest "Let's Start With Nod-Krai" livestream, Genshin Impact's dev team revealed which characters players will meet in Nod-Krai. They confirmed that Varka, the Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius, would be the first person players meet in the region. This will be Varka's first in-game appearance, aiming to give players a sense of security in this unknown place. Genshin Impact confirmed that Varka and his expedition team will be investigating something in Nod-Krai. HoYoverse added that some Varka voicelines will be present in Genshin Impact Version 5.6 as well, as one of his dialogues was featured in the update's trailer.
Genshin Impact Reveals Varka's and Other Factions' Roles in Nod-Krai
Aside from Varka's Knights of Favonius, Nod-Krai harbors various factions, and HoYoverse elaborated on five of them. Among them are the Fatui Harbingers, who are in Nod-Krai trying to "steal the power of the moon." Their goal clashes with the Frostmoon Scions, a group of people who worship the Moon Goddess and are capable of using magic. Next is the Voynich Guild, a merchant guild based in Nasha Town that is also linked to the Curatorium of Secrets organization.
HoYoverse then talked about the Lightkeepers and the Wild Hunt, two factions that are enemies to each other. The Abyssal forces are very powerful in Nod-Krai, and their combined strength is known as the Wild Hunt. Thus, the Lightkeepers are an organization in charge of fighting the Wild Hunt calamities.
According to the developers, the Nod-Krai era will begin as soon as Version 5.8 wraps up and will last for about a year. The livestream gifted players some limited Genshin Impact codes for free Primogems. One of these codes teased that Genshin Impact Version 6.0 and Nod-Krai may arrive on September 10, 2025.
