Genshin Impact has revealed that Tomokazu Sugita is the voice actor for the Grandmaster of the Knights of Favonius, also known as Varka. This legendary character has been mentioned on numerous occasions throughout the main storyline, which reveals that, in the current Genshin Impact timeline, he is occupied with an important expedition north of Mondstadt.
Even though Mondstadt was added as the first Genshin Impact region, many parts of the Anemo nation are yet to be discovered. Over the last couple of years, numerous rumors have hinted that this part of Teyvat would receive an expansion, and it seems that with Snezhnaya’s release slowly approaching, players will finally get to dive deeper into Mondstadt’s main storyline.

A new Genshin Impact leak reveals important details about the long-awaited Skirk, with some details on her Talents, elements and role on the field.
The recently held Special Program event featured the trailer for the upcoming Genshin Impact Version 5.6, which will apparently take players back to Mondstadt. At the end of the official trailer, players finally get to hear the legendary Varka speak, and he is voiced by Tomokazu Sugita, a popular Japanese voice actor known for his roles as Gintoki in Gintama, Katakuri in One Piece, Joseph Joestar in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, and many others. Many fans were surprised to see a Genshin Impact character voiced by such a renowned actor, and they suspect that Varka could have one of the most important roles in the upcoming storyline. Replies in the comment section have also pointed out that Varka will be the fourth character in Genshin Impact voiced by an actor from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, joining Diluc, Xilonen, and Wriothesley.
Genshin Impact Fans Celebrate Varka’s Voice Actor Reveal
Some fans have even said that Varka being voiced by such a legendary VA is reason enough to pull for him. However, Genshin Impact has yet to officially confirm Varka as a new playable character, but many agree that leaving him off the roster would be a missed opportunity for HoYoverse. Based on statements made by other characters in Genshin Impact, Varka is considered one of the most powerful individuals in all of Teyvat.
There is no official information about his appearance other than one of Razor’s voicelines mentioning that Varka is "extremely tall." Many players hope that besides meeting Varka, they will also encounter other legendary characters from Mondstadt, including the famous Genshin Impact mage Alice, known as Klee’s mother.
With almost every major region released except for Snezhnaya, it would not come as a surprise if Genshin Impact’s main storyline is nearing its endgame. Even though Genshin Impact has followed a pattern of releasing one major region each year, rumors suggest that Snezhnaya’s release might be spread over two years due to its importance to the overall story.
