Summary

  • Iansan, a new 4-Star character in Genshin Impact, will debut in Version 5.5 as a support Electro Polearm.
  • Iansan's ability kit rewards movement to extend buffs, potentially making her a strong 4-Star character.
  • Version 5.5 will introduce Iansan and Varesa, along with the Great Volcano of Tollan in Natlan's map expansion.

Genshin Impact has officially unveiled Iansan, the upcoming 4-Star character from the Collective of Plenty, who is set to make her playable debut in Version 5.5. While Natlan has had its fair share of fan-favorites, such as Citlali and Ororon, Genshin Impact players had years to build their expectations on what Iansan was going to be like. As one of the six Heroes of Natlan, Iansan had the spotlight during the Archon Quest, but most fans argue that she hasn't had the chance to shine just yet.

Version 5.5 will introduce Varesa and Iansan to Genshin Impact, but it will also see the launch of Natlan's next map expansion. The Traveler will get to explore the Great Volcano of Tollan, befriend the Tatankasaurs, and engage with the Collective of Plenty. While Genshin Impact is still expected to add the Mare Jivari zone in the near future, Version 5.5 will complete the six tribal reputations for Natlan as a region.

Genshin Impact Officially Reveals Varesa for Version 5.5

Genshin Impact kicks off the drip marketing for Varesa, the upcoming 5-star Electro Catalyst from the Collective of Plenty and a Plunge hypercarry.

Iansan was unveiled by the official Genshin Impact account on Reddit, introducing her as Varesa's mentor and fitness coach of the Collective of Plenty. Whereas Varesa is a 5-Star Electro Catalyst, Iansan in Genshin Impact is touted as a 4-Star Electro Polearm with an ability kit suited for Support. The most exciting thing about her gameplay is that she has a decent shot at replacing Bennett on certain Genshin Impact teams or, at worst, offering an alternative.

Genshin Impact: Who is Iansan?

  • Name: Iansan
  • Title: Tempered in Molten Stone
  • Rarity: 4-Star
  • Vision: Electro
  • Weapon: Polearm
  • Constellation: Carnotaurus

Much like Bennett himself, Iansan is capable of providing a strong buff to the active character's ATK, while also having limited healing abilities. While Bennett's buff is infamously restricted to a rather small circle, Iansan's buff is not only tethered to the active character, but it rewards players for moving around. Namely, Genshin Impact players can extend the duration of Iansan's buff by recording any movement or combat animation. Assuming her multipliers remain untouched during the beta, Iansan will likely end up as one of the stronger 4-Star characters in Genshin Impact.

Given her rarity as a 4-Star, Iansan will not have a dedicated Story Quest or Tribal Chronicle. However, much like Kaveh or Chevreuse in Genshin Impact, there is a chance that Iansan will feature in a Flagship Event as a central character. Moreover, if HoYovere hasn't completely abandoned the concept, players may end up seeing Iansan in a Hangout that explores her character more thoroughly. Version 5.5 is set to launch on March 26, 2025.
