Genshin Impact has revealed a new area that will be added in the upcoming update 5.5. HoYoverse's frequent update schedule allows Genshin Impact players to continuously enjoy fresh content, including new characters, weapons, quests, regions, and more.
The ongoing Version 5.4 is slowly coming to an end, which means players can look forward to a new update expected to launch around March 26. As usual, HoYoverse recently hosted a Special Program event that revealed most of the changes coming in the next update, along with three new promotional codes.
Genshin Impact Concept Combines Varesa With Honkai's Firefly
An interesting fan-made concept combines Genshin Impact's new five-star character Varesa with Firefly from the world of Honkai: Star Rail.
During Genshin Impact's recent Special Program, HoYoverse also unveiled a trailer for a new sub-region set to unlock with update 5.5. This long-awaited part of Natlan will feature the Great Volcano of Tollan, one of the most iconic landmarks in the Pyro nation. According to official information, the new region will be located in the southwestern part of Natlan, and players will first have to meet the members of the Collective of Plenty before heading to the volcano. The Collective of Plenty is one of the six tribes in Natlan and the only one that has not been officially revealed yet. This has led many fans to believe that this could be the final Natlan expansion, at least for the current story arc. The trailer confirmed that the new region will feature numerous floating islands, and players will likely use Phlogiston to travel between them.
Genshin Impact Version 5.5: New Natlan Region Revealed
The Special Program also teased that the Great Volcano of Tollan will have environmental effects, and many players suspect they will be able to influence them through an exciting World Quest. As for new playable characters, HoYoverse confirmed that both Varesa and Iansan will appear in the first banner cycle of Genshin Impact Version 5.5. Varesa is confirmed to be a 5-star character whose kit revolves around combining her Charged and Plunging Attacks with her Elemental Skill and Nightsoul points.
Despite being Varesa's teacher, Iansan will have a 4-star rarity, which has slightly disappointed many fans, given that she has been one of the most anticipated characters in Genshin Impact. Iansan was featured in one of the game's first story teasers back in 2020, and many players had hoped she would have a higher rarity.
Regarding rerun characters, Varesa and Iansan will be joined by Liyue's fan-favorite Xianyun in the first half of the update. The second banner cycle will feature the powerful Geo support Xilonen and Mondstadt's Anemo Archon, Venti. This confirms previous rumors that HoYoverse will continue its trend of featuring one Genshin Impact Archon in every update after a new region’s release. Venti was the only Archon who had not appeared on a banner since Natlan was introduced.
