According to HoYoverse's official announcement, the Special Program for Genshin Impact Version 5.5 will be held on March 14 at 08:00 (UTC-4). Another hint that Travelers might be returning to Genshin Impact's Pyro nation is that the post mentions the Collective of Plenty, also known as Teteocan, which is one of the six tribes in Natlan. Previous Genshin Impact leaks revealed that the next update will also introduce a brand-new region, which will include the Great Volcano of Tollan, located in the southwestern part of Natlan.

The volcano will apparently feature impressive environmental effects, which will likely be tied to a Genshin Impact World Quest, similar to Sumeru's pyramid and the mist on Tsurumi Island. As usual, the Special Program event will grant three promotional codes, which will provide a total of 300 Primogems and additional enhancement items. These Primogems can be used to pull for one of the two new characters. Regarding their rarity, Varesa is expected to be a 5-star character, while Iansan will have a lower, 4-star rarity.
Even though many players hoped that Iansan could also be a 5-star character in Genshin Impact, others have pointed out that her 4-star status means there is a high chance that both characters will be featured on the same banner. This would make it much easier for players to add both of them to their pool of playable characters. As for their exact release date, HoYoverse usually features new characters in the first part of an update, which means that Varesa's banner will likely go live around March 26 and should last approximately three weeks.
