Summary

  • Version 5.7 of Genshin Impact may introduce Nod-Krai, based on newly datamined assets.
  • The update may hint at a new region with NPC designs and outfits linked to Remuria and Hyperborea.
  • Dainsleif could have an expanded role in Version 5.7, and might be playable to some extent.

Genshin Impact players could be getting their first look at Nod-Krai in Version 5.7, as several NPCs were datamined in the latest beta build with unfamiliar designs. While Version 5.7 may not feature a map expansion for Natlan, all signs point that Dainsleif will make his annual appearance in the upcoming Genshin Impact patch. The update will also feature Skirk and Dahlia as playable characters, with the former receiving a Story Quest that seemingly takes place in Liyue.

However, there are a few details about Version 5.7 that remain a mystery. The next chapter of the Archon Quest in Genshin Impact is implied to take place in Natlan, with Dainsleif taking center stage. On top of his model seemingly receiving an update, Dainsleif will also have a party member icon in Version 5.7. While this implies that he will be playable to some degree, Genshin Impact players should expect little more than the Mavuika sequences prior to Version 5.3.

Genshin Impact Could Be Adding Weapon Skins in Version 5.7

Recent datamining shows strong evidence that Genshin Impact players could be getting weapon skins in Version 5.7 along with the new endgame.

Amidst all this chaos, Mirukoreal has shared a datamined model of an unknown NPC, as well as several resources that point towards a whole new region. This NPC model wears a style of clothing not seen in any nation of Teyvat, but is strangely reminiscent of Remuria in Genshin Impact, a dead civilization that makes up the underwater ruins of Fontaine. Given Remuria's connection to Hyperborea, and Hyperborea's connection to Nod-Krai, there is a chance that these resources are setting up the new region early.

Genshin Impact: How is Nod-Krai Connected to Remuria and Hyperborea?

While the exact era of Hyperborea's existence is unknown, Mary-Ann makes a reference to "golden Hyperborea" and its snowfields during the Narzissenkreuz storyline. It is implied that Hyperborea is to Snezhnaya what Remuria is to Fontaine, and that the Frostmoon Scions abandoned their golden civilization to settle in Nod-Krai. As one of the key factions in the new Genshin Impact region, players will no doubt interact with the Frostmoon Scions during Nod-Krai's Archon Quest.

Given Nod-Krai's geographical location, wedged between Mont Esus and Snezhnaya, drawing some inspiration from Remuria isn't beyond the realm of possibility. During the recent behind-the-scenes video shared by HoYoverse, the developers claimed that Nod-Krai in Genshin Impact would primarily be influenced by cultures around the Baltic Sea, as well as Celtic folklore, but that they also wanted to take more liberties in mixing other design elements in a way that made sense for Teyvat. If Dainsleif's quest takes place in Natlan, chances are that players will likely encounter these NPCs in the Flagship Event for Version 5.7, which has yet to be datamined.
